The people of the Underworld did not have a very concrete sense of being "protected by two goddesses."

Though their birth, the pioneering of the Underworld, and many of the fundamental technologies there were all gifts from the two goddesses.

But after all, that was a matter of their "ancestors," and hundreds of years had passed since then.

That was far too remote in the past.

The Underworld had no national traditions; many people did not even know how their nation was founded or when they started living underground. There were even many who were illiterate, with a generally low rate of education—or rather, the lowest among nations.

After all, the Lady of Mystery and the Lady of Silence, both True Gods, were not particularly keen on education. Among their clergy, there were quite a few mystics and proponents of elitism.
