The town lord had a nervous chuckle when he heard what Ezra said. He, of all people, knew that some kids were given noble status. One of them had been staying in his town, and he had been using that opportunity to take from her and her family.

"I understand that what he has done is a grievous crime, but he is my worker, and I beseech you to let him off the hook this time," the town lord asked.

"Not happening. I will not take this humiliation. If he is so important that I can't punish him, then I'll turn and punish his family instead.

They aren't under your protection, right? Or will you say I can't punish your townspeople? If that would be the case, I will appeal to a higher authority," Ezra explained.

The lord frowned when he heard all Ezra said, his hate for this kid growing deeper and deeper.

"Come on now, we are nobles; we shouldn't bring ourselves to such behaviors," the lord said.
