Chapter 17: Enter the Mansion

The six-day journey to the capital of the empire was filled with anticipation. As the grandeur of the city gradually revealed itself, Kai found himself in awe. "This is overwhelming…" he thought, his eyes wide with wonder.

As they entered the bustling city, Kai looked out of the carriage window. He saw streets lined with shops, their windows displaying a variety of goods. People were walking by, engaged in their daily routines. Children playing on the sidewalks stopped to wave at the carriage as it passed by. Kai waved back, a smile tugging at his lips. The vibrancy of the city life was a stark contrast to the quiet of Willowshade, and Kai found himself drawn to it.

Upon their arrival, they were welcomed by the mansion's staff. The butler, an elderly man with a kind smile, approached Kai. His eyes twinkled as he looked at Hiro and chuckled, "The young master has your eyes." Hiro, beaming with pride, clapped the butler on the shoulder, "And my brains too."

While Hiro was engaged in reminiscing with the butler, Sakura took the reins of Kai's wheelchair. "Let me show you to your room," she said, her voice echoing through the grand hallway. She directed the maids, who scurried off to prepare a change of clothes, a warm bath, and a meal.

Sakura wheeled Kai into a room that was more akin to a palace than a bedroom. Kai could only shake his head in disbelief. Misinterpreting his silence, Sakura said, "Alright, now take off your clothes. Let me help you take a bath!" Kai quickly scribbled a note, "I can manage myself." Sakura laughed, "Aww, but I wanted to help my son take a bath…" Kai could only facepalm at her words.

Just then, Hiro entered the room. "Hey! Why did you two leave me all alone there?" Sakura gave him a mischievous smile, "Well, someone was busy bragging, we didn't want to be a part of it." Their playful banter filled the room as Kai wheeled himself to the side, his mind drifting back to his past life. He recalled two people arguing just like them, while he back then was doing the same thing, just watching the two argue.

Back in the present time, he just stares at them mocking each other, in a romantic way. "A unique couple, huh…" he thought, to which Eva replied, "Good for you, free entertainment." Kai just smiled, "Right." As the couple were busy on their converse, the door to the room slowly opened. Hiro and Sakura looked over, as well as Kai. As the door opened, a young girl, around 6 years old was revealed. She had blonde hair and hazel eyes. As he saw her, he recalled back.

On their way to the estate, Sakura was cheerfully telling him about the estate. "Ah! Also, you have a little sister! She's 6 years old, her name is…" 

Back at present, "Elysia Hamada…" he thought as the girl entered the room. Both Hiro and Sakura faced her and smiled, "Come here Eli." Sakura called out to her and she walked over. "Did you have a safe trip, Mom?" she asked, to which Hiro came in, "Yes, we did. And look, someone's here to meet you." He pointed towards Kai, to which he wheeled himself forward. Elysia looked at him, then at Hiro and Sakura. "Is he my big brother?" she asked to which they both nodded their head. As she saw that, she beamed up and rushed towards Kai and jumped over him. Kai's eyes widened, moving his hands forward, when he finally caught her.
