Charlotte sighed and shook her head, finishing reminiscing about the past events.
She sighed and raised her head to look at his handsome face. She had this strong feeling in her heart that Alex was the same guy from her memories.
She couldn't help but ask. "Asta, please tell me honestly. It is very important to me. Are you perhaps... Lupin?"
Sol was startled by her captain's words, her eyes almost jumping out of their sockets.
Who in the entire capital was not familiar with the name of the legendary thief, Lupin?
He was a mysterious guy who appeared ten years ago and since then he had looted many precious gems and treasures from the nobles in this past decade. The Clover Kingdom and even the other kingdoms could not escape from his expert hands.
And even though he was a thief, he was still a respected adversary for many magic knights who fought against him. His mana control and magic usage were otherworldy and he could use basic spells to compare with the high-level spells of the Magic Knights.
Sol stared at Alex bewilderedly, feeling herself in a pinch. If he was really Lupin then she had the obligation to arrest him but currently, her captain had some feelings for this man so she couldn't do that since it might hurt Charlotte's feelings.
Alex stared at Charlotte's hopeful eyes and spoke. "Even if I'm the same guy, how will you prove it? Do you have any evidence? You can't blame an innocent guy without any proof, Captain Charlotte."
Alex neither admitted nor refused, giving a vague answer to her.
Charlotte trembled lightly and her eyes lit up with a bright light. She smiled lightly and nodded her head. "Yeah, you're right. I don't have any evidence. I'm sorry on my part for jumping to conclusions."
Sol furrowed her brows slightly displeased by Alex's lack of respect for her captain. She quickly chimed in.
"There is no need to worry, Charlotte. We can just capture him and torture him to spit out the truth. Also, Marx can use his mind-reading spell on him to read his memories. We'll get the truth at that time."
*Pfft*
Alex couldn't help but laugh out loud, unable to control it at all.
"Shut up. Why are you laughing?" Sol barked angrily.
Alex chuckled and pointed at them while asking with his eyebrow raised at her. "Do you forget that I have Anti-magic? No magic can work on me."
Turning his head towards Charlotte, he continued. "Your subordinate doesn't seem intelligent at all, Captain. It would be very hectic to take care of people like her, isn't it?"
Sol was dumbfounded and realized that she really had forgotten this point. 'I am such an idiot. I completely forgot about it that this bastard has Anti-Magic. All types of magic are useless in front of him. Damn it!'
Charlotte giggled and nodded her head, agreeing with him. "You're right. She is just like this, making decisions on whims. But overall, she is a very trusted junior of mine. So, please refrain from insulting her too much."
"Captain!" Sol listened to Charlotte's words and almost teared up. She never thought that her captain thought about her like that.
Alex shrugged his shoulder and smiled. "As you wish. Since I'm in your territory, I have to listen to you anyway."
"But it didn't seem to be the case from your behavior to me." Charlotte smiled and replied.
Sol sneered coldly. "What a hypocrite. Men are really worthless creatures!"
Alex grinned and spread out his hands, not caring at all. "Anyway, let's get back to the main topic, shall we? Maybe I have a way to prove your theory."
"What do you mean?" Charlotte raised her eyebrows and asked with an interest.
Alex stood up and crossed the table, walking in front of her.
Sol was pissed off by his actions and instantly shouted. "Oye, what do you think you're doing, you bastard?"
But Alex had no interest in replying. He stared at the blond-haired beauty who was also watching him in interest.
Then under the shocked gazes of both of the girls, he bent down his upper torso and planted a kiss on Charlotte's lips, catching her off-guard.
Sol was again dumbfounded, rooted in her spot. Her mouth opened wide with enough space to fit an entire egg while her eyes were threatening to jump out of their sockets.
To speak, Charlotte was not just her Captain but she was also her idol and dear friend so to see a man that she hated kissing her idol, almost blew off her mind.
She gritted her teeth and took out her grimoire shouting. "Bastard, I'll kill you!"
She quickly made her way to him.
"Stop!"
But before she could do anything, Charlotte's words made her stop in her tracks.
She raised her head and saw Charlotte tearing up while biting her lower lip.
'He... He makes Big Sis cry. I will not forgive him.'
The anger in Sol's heart was velling up with veins bulging out on her forehead. She was greeting her teeth, wanting to tear Alex into pieces.
But suddenly, she saw Charlotte standing up and jumping into Alex's arms, hugging him.
"B-Big... Sis?..."
This action left Sol speechless as she watched them with a bewildered expression.
'Who am I? Where is this?... What is going on here?... How can Big Sis of all people...'
Charlotte on the other hand was overjoyed, crying in happiness. She hugged him tightly and muttered. "You're really 'him'. I knew it!... I finally found you."
Alex sighed and rubbed her back. Yeah, it was him who saved her from her curse a few years ago by mistake. At first, he wanted to hide it but watching the longing in her eyes, he decided to reveal it. She was just like Lily, a very pure and loving woman, well if we ignore her tsundere personality because Lily was much more straight-forward regarding her feelings.
And another thing was getting her on his side. Having a captain on his side would have benefits for his future plans.
Also, there might even be a chance of things going astray so he had to be prepared in advance for that.
"Haha, it's just a pure coincidence. But I never thought that the young woman would grow up to become a Captain of the Magic Squad." Alex said.
Charlotte released him and wiped the tear from the corner of her eyes, nodding her head in gratitude.
"Yeah. If not for you, I might have died along with my family on that day."
Alex smiled and asked. "Since you got your answer, what now? Are you going to arrest me now?"
