Chapter 322: Spider-Gwen

Right now, Spider-Man was full of questions:

Who am I?

Where am I?

What am I doing?

And who is she?

Why is she here?

What is our relationship?

Noticing the confusion in Spider-Man's mind, the beautiful young woman smiled and said, "Peter Parker, I didn't expect you to have gained Spider-Man's powers so early. I'm not sure whether to call you lucky or unlucky."

Startled by her words, Spider-Man became even more wary: "Who are you, and how do you know me?"

The young woman then agilely jumped down from the window, replying, "Shouldn't you introduce yourself before asking others for their names?"

Spider-Man hesitated, not wanting to reveal his identity.

While he was conflicted, the young woman continued, "If you don't want to say it, how about I guess?"

Under Spider-Man's doubtful gaze, she leisurely said, "You're Peter Parker. You were bitten by a radioactive spider and then you gained the abilities of a spider. Your uncle told you that with great power comes great responsibility, and you adopted his philosophy, becoming the one and only Spider-Man."

With each statement she made, Spider-Man involuntarily stepped back, shocked by her accurate portrayal, as if she knew him through and through.

When she finished, he had sat back down on the bed, looking alarmed at the seemingly harmless girl, "How do you know so much about me?"

"Because, I am too!"

Her words were cryptic, but Spider-Man felt like he understood what she meant. The special sense he had felt earlier didn't lie.

She, too, was Spider-Man?

Seemingly to prove Spider-Man's guess, the young woman then introduced herself, "My name is Gwen Stacy. I was bitten by a radioactive spider, and then I gained spider abilities, becoming the unique Spider-Woman of this world. I've used my powers to save many people, including my father, but I couldn't save my best friend—Peter Parker."

Hearing Gwen's introduction, Spider-Man felt both understanding and confusion.

After a while, he ventured a guess, "Are you from the future?"

Gwen countered, "Why would you think that?"

"First, you know my name, but I don't know you," Spider-Man reasoned. "And you also have spider powers, being the only Spider-Woman. From what you said, it sounds like I am already dead in the future... Can you tell me how I died?"

Gwen was silent.

Impressed by Spider-Man's combination of chattiness and imagination, Gwen patiently explained, "I'm not from the future. In fact, neither of us belongs to this world; I just arrived a few hours earlier than you. This place is a parallel universe that is somewhat similar to where we come from."

"Parallel universe?"

This concept, still theoretical, made Spider-Man skeptical, "Do you have any proof?"

"Snap!"

Just as Spider-Man asked his question, Gwen threw a newspaper onto the bed next to him.

Turning to look, he saw the headline…

"Superheroes, Forever Immortal!" — Deeply Mourning Spider-Man Peter Parker.

Seeing this title, Spider-Man felt a surge of malice from all around him.

I died again!

Wait, why again?

Gwen continued, "I crossed over yesterday morning, and a few minutes ago, I found you fainted in an alley and brought you here to rest in this motel."

"Don't worry, there are so many kids dressed as Spider-Man on the streets right now, your outfit doesn't stand out at all."

Is that so?

Feeling somewhat reassured, Spider-Man asked, "Do you know how we crossed over, and can we go back?"

Gwen, her expression serious, shared, "According to my investigation, the person who killed the Spider-Man of this world is a super-villain named Jhin."

"Jhin?" Spider-Man was puzzled. "Isn't he already dead? Killed years ago by the strongest superhero, Clark?"

"We've already said this is a parallel universe," Gwen remarked, not noticing the name Clark. "And I highly suspect that Jhin is also responsible for the spatial disturbance that pulled us into this universe."

Upon hearing this, Spider-Man was invigorated, "Then what are we waiting for? Let's find out the truth and capture him, to... to avenge me?"

Gwen nodded and then unzipped her casual jacket, revealing a spider-suit underneath that matched Peter Parker's, a perfect fit for a couple.

The suit, black and white, wrapped her securely from head to toe. Once she put on the hood, not even a hair was left exposed, achieving ultimate safety.

Seeing her getup, Spider-Man's blood boiled, ready to join this inter-universal female Spider-Woman in stirring up trouble on Jhin's turf.

"Oops!"

Suddenly, Spider

-Gwen staggered, almost falling. She quickly steadied herself by holding her forehead, recovering after a few seconds, then acting as if nothing happened, "I'm fine now, let's go."

"You didn't look fine just now," Spider-Man immediately questioned. "Are you feeling unwell?"

Gwen reluctantly explained, "Because I don't belong to this world, I feel a sense of rejection. I've had this feeling since I crossed over, but focusing mentally can suppress the discomfort temporarily. For now, it shouldn't affect fighting." She paused, then curiously asked, "Don't you feel it?"

Under his mask, Spider-Man's face was full of confusion, "Not at all. I feel fine."

"Of course, you're fine," suddenly, a familiar voice echoed in Spider-Man's mind. "With my divine power protecting you, such spatial rejection can't affect you."

Spider-Man was overjoyed, "Mr. Clark, where are you?"

The sudden voice was the trace of divine power that Clark had left on Spider-Man.

"I don't know where my main body is," Clark's voice answered. "Right now, I am just a trace of divine power residing within you, which carries my consciousness and allows us to communicate. This is basic for a cosmic deity, no need to call it 666."

666?

Spider-Man weakly retorted, "Are you the devil?"

Spider-Gwen asked, "What devil are you talking about?"

"Oh, nothing. I was talking to a senior," Spider-Man replied to Gwen, then quickly asked Clark, "Mr. Clark, could you also help Gwen? She seems to be in pain."

"Don't shout; try to communicate mentally," Clark advised, suddenly feeling like an old system operator. "Helping her is no problem; just share some of the divine power I left with you. However, think it through. Once you share that power, to fully utilize the power I lent you, you must work together with her, which will impact your strength."

Spider-Man didn't shout but silently responded in his mind, "It doesn't matter. I still want to help her."

Clark wasn't surprised by Spider-Man's response.

Helpful and selfless.

That's the beloved superhero Spider-Man!

Although this would introduce a significant variable to the task of passing on the torch, Clark still supported Spider-Man's decision, so he directly instructed, "Place your hand on her forehead, and follow the method I teach you to transfer some of my divine power into her. Here's how you do it..."

Spider-Man was thrilled, but his chatty nature couldn't be contained, "Why the forehead?"

"Because it's safe," Clark explained seriously. "I can't explain it too clearly, but just know it can't be below the neck."

Spider-Man asked, "What if I use my web to hang upside down?"

"Kid, that's a dangerous thought. Do you still want to help her or not?"

"Okay, I'll keep quiet."

...

Clark didn't know that the trace of divine power he left was bickering with the chatty Spider-Man. In fact, his main body wasn't closely connected to the divine power left in Spider-Man; after leaving Earth, their connection had already weakened significantly. If not for deliberate transmission, they wouldn't sense each other.

Now that the divine power had gone with Spider-Man to a parallel universe, communication was impossible until they returned.

At the moment, Clark's main body was aboard a spaceship, gazing at a terrifying black hole in the distance that seemed to devour everything around it.

The Quarry of the Gods was finally in sight!

This desolate place, barely lively, was filled with unsettling divine power fluctuations, perceptible even from a distance from the black hole.

Whether Thanos could turn the tables and successfully clean house or whether Thane would outwit him and complete his patricidal scheme depended on their performance now.
