Chapter 1185: Questioning (Part 2)_1

In the reception room of Wayne Manor, Angela paced with slight impatience. Before Bruce even asked any questions, the female police officer began to speak incessantly:

"I don't know if I've ever told you, Shiller once saved me. When I was plagued by a demon, he helped me dispel it and faded those horrific memories. Afterwards, when I was mentally collapsed due to a homicide, he also treated and comforted me."

"Therefore, you don't have to worry about me helping him for some ulterior motive. I just want to repay his kindness."

Angela stood in place, hands on her hips, sighed, and said: "All I can say is that I was lucky. Just two months into the Federal Bureau of Investigation, I was transferred to the understaffed Criminal Investigation Team. Because of my prestigious profile, I even took up a key position."

"The reason why I did this is not to obstruct justice, but precisely to ensure it."

Bruce understood her implications. He put down his coat and looked at Angela: "You mean, someone doesn't want this case to be just?"

Angela hesitated for a moment, seeming a bit distrustful of Bruce. But Bruce understood, and he said: "You should know that Wayne Enterprises can do a lot of things and you also don't have to worry about whether I truly want to help Shiller."

"Regardless, he was my university professor, and our reputations in academia are closely related. In this respect, we have common interests."

Angela spoke obscurely, but Bruce immediately understood. The Federal Bureau of Investigation had arrested Shiller once before. However, in the aftermath of the Gotham disaster, America, fearing for its international reputation, dare not carry out thorough investigations.

If they continued to prosecute Shiller and Shiller said something on the stand, the ensuing laughter from the Far East would be deafening.

Generally, the resolution to such matters is commonly suicide by eight gunshots to the back, but firstly, Shiller was in Gotham, making this solution difficult. Secondly, the Federal Bureau of Investigation knew that Shiller was not a quiescent lamp. If he found some leverage, they would be even more discredited.

Bruce glanced at the recording pen and then at Angela. He leaned forward, reached out his arm, picked up the recording pen and began to play:

Bruce covered his eyes and said: "Rhomann and Thomas are completely psychotic. Their targeting of Shiller has nothing to do with whether Shiller has paid too much attention to others."

"Who would a bully undergo plastic surgery to look like a victim? Who would a bully want to fly around Gotham every day???"

Angela seemed somewhat puzzled, so Bruce simply explained the relationship between Thomas, Rhomann, and him. The more Angela learned, the more she furrowed her brows. Squinting at Bruce, she said:

"So, those two people actually targeted Shiller out of jealousy for you, wanting to take what you have? Yet Shiller attributed this to his own failure in education?"
