Living Sacrifice*

Rui Ye called out a few more times but received no response in return.

He had no idea what time it was now, nor could he judge between the hours based on the direction of the sunlight as the gloomy weather had messed with his perception. The only thing he could rely on was his physiological function; if he got hungry, then it should be the time to eat.

Sitting on the bed, Rui Ye gingerly rubbed his stomach.

He did feel a little hungry, so it meant Mother Rui would be coming back soon!

Rui Ye jumped down from the bed like an agile fish, left the bedroom, and smoothly made his way to his usual position in front of the living room window. Here, he could hear the crunching footsteps Mother Rui made when she trekked on the snowy hill, making it easier for him to open the door for her.
