19 - Bloodbath

Lucian watched Alex as he stepped into the Coliseum. There weren't any noticeable changes, as Alex still had the same dull face as earlier.

'Though, I wonder why he didn't leave earlier… He told me he didn't want to join one of those families either way.'

The more Lucian thought about it, the weirder it seemed. 

Did Alex have some secret plan… or did he just want to fight people?

'Let's ask him after the fight… he'll probably tell me.'

Alex hadn't been stingy over his answers. He had answered everything that Lucian had asked. Sure, it had been very simple questions that had been common, but he had still answered them.

There were multiple questions Lucian wanted to ask Alex, especially about where he came from and how he managed to take over a human body… However, it was information that was very difficult to ask him since Lucian shouldn't know about those things in the first place.

'I need to find a way where it comes all naturally, but… who knows when he will tell us about his background? Ah, whatever, let's think about that later. He's about to fight.'

Lucian made sure to pay special attention to Alex, wondering what sort of moves he would be pulling off. He had already seen him use that blue energy that would come from his sword. However, that was basically it… Alex probably hadn't found the need to use another attack against zombies, which made sense.

Lucian quickly looked at who Alex would be fighting, and he wasn't anything impressive… well, compared to the monster he was facing. After all, everyone who had gotten more than 1500 points was probably not even close to Alex's strength since he was basically a human cheat.

'This is going to be one hell of a bloodbath…'

*Ding!*

The bell rang, which meant the duel had started. Alex's opponent also had a sword in his hands. However, from the way he was handling it… it was clear that he wasn't used to it whatsoever. He was clumsy, jerking it around without any idea of what he was doing.

On the other hand, Alex disappeared from his original position, moving so fast that both Ava and Lucian had missed him completely. The next time they saw him, he was now behind his opponent, ready to slash him down. However, weirdly enough, he didn't do anything yet… he waited for his opponent to turn around.

"Ahh… man… this is just too easy… couldn't you be a little stronger? The only reason I didn't leave yet was because I wanted some fun…"

Alex spoke out loud as his opponent panicked, trying to attack him. But it was just too obvious as Alex ducked down. He didn't even care about his opponent as he continued to speak normally.

"Why didn't that Angel put me against someone strong… I thought that in this world, it would be different… seems like everyone is still as weak as before," he muttered as he stood back up, looking toward the sky. 

As he looked away from his opponent, multiple attacks came his way… but Alex didn't even give them the time of the day. He continued looking upward while blocking them with his sword.

"Ahh… why did they send me here… what was it? Save them or something? Why do I have to be the one doing that... They told me there would be many strong people, well… I'm still fighting humans. That angel did look stronger.'

Everyone who saw Alex talking to himself while looking away from his opponent thought of him as completely stupid. 

Who did he think he was to look away during a fight?

The answer to that was simple: the most overpowered protagonist there was.

"Well… time to end it."

Alex almost looked a little disappointed when he uttered those words. He had thought his opponent would put up a bit of a challenge… but it seemed they weren't strong enough.

He tightened his grip against his sword and looked at the neck of his opponent… In a flash, his opponent's neck was no more. It was on the ground, slowly rolling. Alex had decapitated his opponent without the slightest hesitation or problem. Everything about it had been extremely smooth.

'Wait, what's happening?' Lucian thought as he looked at the decapitated head.

The head started acting by itself. It slowly flew up, and a couple of seconds later, it reattached itself to its original body.

'I guess you really can't die inside this duel zone… Still, that must have hurt so bad.'

"Ariel, who are those people?"

This time, the man inside the throne didn't keep his voice down. Everyone in the observation room had already noticed those "newbies" were too powerful. One of them was able to control and create five fireballs at the same time, and the other was able to move almost as fast as most of them.

There was a problem… However, no one in this room knew about it.

"Where do they come from? What world?"

'Why are you so interested in them? They are powerful… but are they really that amazing?'

It was the first time in her life that she had seen her father react so strongly about newbies. In fact, it was the first time that he had come to see the newbies' potential. Usually, he would just send someone random. But since his daughter had been chosen to overlook the Tutorial… he had decided to be a little more active.

'Still… this is just…'

"The system told me their world was called the 'Earth.' I don't know anything else about it…"

"And did some of them have strength like that before the Tutorial?"

Everyone in the observation room was listening with a lot of focus. They also wanted to have as much information as possible on those two humans.

"No, from what I've seen. All of them were normal humans, and none of them had any kind of power."

'Then… it really is pure talent…'

Ariel's dad made the same hand gesture to her daughter as earlier, who immediately got closer to him.

"Ariel, listen to me… we need to recruit them. That girl and that man… they are special. I can feel it, and since we were the ones responsible for the tutorial… we got the first pick. So quickly, bring them up, and don't forget the one who won against that mage. I need to ask him some things."
