Feeling the rules of death within the Death Orb continuously flowing into the woman, Zane's eyes flashed with a sharp glint.
"Old man, you really planned on me stepping in, didn't you?" Zane muttered to himself, though there was no trace of complaint in his voice, only a hint of nostalgia.
Even though Odin had only recently fallen, a strong sense of loneliness welled up within Zane. After all, it was unlikely that he would find another being of equal standing, someone who truly understood him, anywhere else in this universe.
As one walks along the path, the further they go, the lonelier it gets.
When the figure finally stepped out of the wormhole and fully stood on the arena, Queen Frigga suddenly stood up from her seat, involuntarily whispering, "Hela!"
"Mother, who is she?" Loki asked curiously, standing up to support Frigga's trembling shoulders after seeing her terrified expression.
"She is my first child," Frigga replied, her voice tinged with sorrow as she gazed at Hela, who was now on the stage, curiously looking around. "Your sister, the Goddess of Death—Hela."
"What? A sister?" Both Thor and Loki were stunned. They had never heard of having a sister before; Thor had always believed he was the eldest child. When did they suddenly have a sister?
This was too much to take in!
Perhaps noticing the shock that Thor and Loki were experiencing, Queen Frigga began to recount the part of history that Odin had deliberately hidden.
"Fifteen hundred years ago, after the death of Odin's father, Bor, the Nine Realms fell into unprecedented chaos," Frigga began. "Your father, newly crowned king, was much like you, Thor, with his mind full of thoughts of violent conquest." She cast a disapproving glance at Thor as she continued.
"Thus, your father led Asgard's armies in a campaign to conquer the Nine Realms. The war was unparalleled in scale and lasted for centuries. Countless lives were lost in that war that shook all Nine Realms, leaving the realms in a state of mourning, with mountains of corpses scattered across the lands."
"In the midst of the desolation, everyone deeply regretted the war they had started, but they couldn't stop because of their conflicting interests."
"Your sister Hela was a key participant in that war, her reputation at the time was equal to that of your father's."
"And mind you, she was not yet an adult then; you could say she grew up on the battlefield and over the bodies of her enemies."
"Even your Mjolnir, Thor, was once Hela's weapon."
"When the war finally ended, your birth, Thor, made your father realize that endless war would only bring more misfortune. So, he decided to become a wise king."
"But that's when the conflict arose. The harsh experiences of your sister's upbringing made her addicted to killing, unable to extricate herself from it."
"Her ambition swelled to the point that the entire Nine Realms seemed insignificant to her."
"She refused to stop and eventually launched a rebellion within Asgard."
"It took the sacrifice of the entire Valkyrie force to finally suppress her."
"Your father spent his life keeping her under control, sealing her in the realm of the dead."
"But now, the seal is broken…"
"She's back!"
Thor and Loki's minds, following Queen Frigga's solemn words, seemed to drift back to that ancient era of relentless wars and widespread suffering. Unconsciously, their gazes focused on Hela.
Hela, who had now regained her full strength due to her connection with the Death God's divinity within Zane's Reaper's Scythe, also seemed to sense the attention from Frigga, Thor, and Loki. She turned her head in their direction and casually remarked, "So, that stubborn old man is dead?"
Her tone was indifferent, almost nonchalant, with even a hint of satisfaction in her eyes.
Seeing Hela's cold attitude, a flash of sternness crossed Frigga's face. "Silence! He was your father!" Frigga snapped, her voice tinged with anger. Thor and Loki, too, looked at Hela with disapproval.
Though Loki was reluctant to admit it, deep down, he recognized Odin as his father. The thousand-plus years of being raised by Odin had erased any sense of estrangement that bloodlines might have created.
"Oh, really?" Hela responded dismissively, toying with her nails without even sparing a glance at her mother, Frigga. Her cold demeanor was as if she were facing a stranger—or worse, an enemy. To Hela, Odin had been a figure of resentment, but toward Frigga, she felt nothing at all.
"You..." Frigga started to speak, but before she could continue, a sharp sword suddenly materialized in Hela's hand. In the next moment, Hela raised her arm and viciously hurled the sword. It flew through the air with a shrill, menacing sound, aimed directly at Frigga's face.
As the deadly blade grew larger in her pupils, a look of disbelief flashed in Frigga's eyes. She couldn't comprehend how her own daughter could be so heartless, ready to kill her without a word. As a mother, Frigga felt more sorrow and guilt for Hela than anger. Deep down, she always believed that Hela's descent into this state was partly her fault.
For years, the thought of Hela's face had caused Frigga deep, agonizing pain. After all, there are rebellious children, but no mother who doesn't forgive.
For a moment, Frigga was so shocked that she froze, unable to believe that Hela would go through with it. She didn't even cast her usual protective magic, leaving herself completely vulnerable as the blade hurtled towards her.
At the critical moment, Loki, who had been watching Hela intently, quickly pulled Frigga to the side. The sword narrowly missed Frigga, slicing through a lock of her hair. The blade, still full of deadly momentum, then plunged into the chest of a nearby ruler of a civilization sitting in the audience.
The unfortunate ruler barely had time to register his shock before the death energy on the sword snuffed out his life force, leaving him slumped lifelessly in his seat. Seeing this, the rulers sitting nearby quickly dragged their chairs away, not wanting to meet the same fate as the unlucky soul.
It was only then, after a moment of shock, that Thor finally reacted. Seeing that his mother had almost been killed by Hela, he flew into a rage.
