Chapter 5 - The Brother Also Passed Away

The most important thing right now is to take Baobao away first.

As for these two despicable men and women, retribution will come sooner or later.

An Xiangrong planned to wait until Baobao was a few months older before finding a way to take her away.

But that day never came.

One day after feeding An Ling some porridge, she was sent to fetch water. As An Xiangrong returned with the water pot, she saw An Ling holding Baobao and feeding him porridge.

"An Ling, what are you doing?!"

By the time An Xiangrong spoke, the porridge had already been swallowed and Baobao's face turned red from choking.

An Xiangrong rushed forward, in her haste, the water from the pot poured onto An Ling who stood up abruptly in surprise.

"Ah, it's scorching!"

An Xiangrong ignored An Ling and quickly took Baobao. Seeing his complexion worsening, she immediately yelled, "Doctor! Doctor!"

Gu Mingyu came in with the doctor. Seeing the situation, the doctor went towards An Xiangrong, while Gu Mingyu chose An Ling.

Seeing the doctor about to save Baobao, Gu Mingyu said coldly, "Doctor, what are you doing? Didn't you see that An Ling got burned?"

A doctor rushed in quickly and was heading towards An Xiangrong first.

Disbelievingly, An Xiangrong looked at Gu Mingyu and said, "Gu Mingyu, are you even human?"

Even the doctor knew who to save first. Yet, Gu Mingyu, the child's biological father, didn't know!

All An Ling had was a burn, but if the child choked ...it could cost him his life!

Gu Mingyu's eyes were bloodshot, his demeanor devil-like, he picked up An Ling!

"An Xiangrong! I warned you! If you dare hurt An Ling again, you'll regret it! Very well, you took my words for granted. Today, I'll erase the An Group from this world!"

Looking at Gu Mingyu's decisive departure, and the doctors who were helping An Ling leave, An Xiangrong collapsed onto the ground holding her child.

After a while, she opened her mouth, and cried out in silent agony.

"Baobao, Mommy is so sorry!" An Xiangrong cradled the purplish-faced child in her arms, sobbing and patting him at the same time, "It's all Mommy's fault, if it wasn't for me, how could you have such a scum of a father, your life is even less important than An Ling's foot pain!"

As An Xiangrong cried and patted, suddenly, Baobao coughed gently in her arms, and then opened his mouth to cry loudly.

"Baobao... Mommy will take you home, far away from the devil Gu Mingyu!"

An Xiangrong looked at the open ward door and realized that her opportunity to escape had finally come.

After all, this door was always kept closed in the past!

An Xiangrong suddenly sprang up and ran outside like a madwoman.

She still had a home.

At the An family, she still had her brother An Jie!

The wind howled in her ears, and An Xiangrong felt like a tireless machine at the moment, running until her legs went numb, she was still sprinting forward.

Just as An Xiangrong was around the corner from the An residence, a familiar black Buick drove in first.

In the passenger seat, she clearly saw the man's cold and ruthless face!

It's Gu Mingyu!

What is Gu Mingyu doing here?

Could it be...???

An Xiangrong, pale-faced, stumbled towards the villa. As she stepped upon the garden steps outside the An residence, she saw two police cars and several uniformed officers.

Looking further ahead, her brother, An Jie, was standing on the fourth floor of the An residence.

He was wearing the blue suit she had bought for him, paired with a blue checkered tie she had gotten for him. That handsome face was unmistakably etched with exhaustion.

But the next moment, An Jie's eyes lit up.

He had obviously spotted An Xiangrong. He waved gently at her, signaling her not to come closer.

An Xiangrong paused in her steps as a black Buick car drove in from another road and parked outside the An residence.

Then, the car door opened, and out stepped Gu Mingyu, his face icy cold: "An Jie, where is An Xiangrong?!"

Atop the building, An Jie was instantly furious: "Gu Mingyu, you came here looking for Xiangrong? Hasn't she been living at the Gu family's place all along? Hasn't she just given birth to your child? Gu Mingyu, I tell you! I can tolerate whatever you do to me! But if you dare to let my sister suffer, I won't let you off!"

"Ha, you won't let me off? An Jie, what can you do? Look at yourself. You are about to go to prison. Do you think you can fight me?"

"Yes, I'm going to jail! But if it weren't for you, Gu Mingyu, how would I have fallen to this state? Gu Mingyu, you're despicable! Do you know how much Xiangrong has given up for you? She loves you so much, yet you grind her into the mud! Is An Ling worthy enough for my sister to fight over? Gu Mingyu, I curse you, I curse that you never find your true love in this life!"

"Shut up!" Gu Mingyu's face turned livid with rage. "An Jie, I doubt you'll live to see that day! If you have the guts, just jump right now! Do you really think your pretentious display scares me?"

The anger on An Jie's face suddenly disappeared. He lowered his head, calmly watching Gu Mingyu, then gave a faint smile.

"Gu Mingyu, it doesn't matter if I don't live to see the day you suffer, for heaven will punish you. Believe it or not, one day you will regret how you treated Xiangrong, regret using Xiangrong to threaten the An Group, regret pushing me into a corner. When that time comes, you'll realize that death is not the most hopeless thing in the world. The most hopeless thing is that you loved and hurt the wrong person."

"And..."

An Jie glanced towards An Xiangrong direction again and then slowly turned, arms open wide.

"Xiangrong, your brother is powerless. I failed to protect you! But I hope...you will always stay away from the devil that is Gu Mingyu! I hope that you stay strong and live on!"

No!

An Xiangrong desperately moved forward, but before she could take a step, An Jie had already fallen backwards!

There was an immediate thunderous 'Bang'!

No!!!!

An Xiangrong opened her mouth, but no sound came out! She stared blankly ahead. Her most beloved brother, the one who promised to protect her and the An Group for life, now lay with his head smashed open, brain splattering everywhere, his face unrecognizable!!!!

Various sounds echoed in her ears, including a man's icy voice.

"Release the news of An Jie's suicide. I refuse to believe that that bitch An Xiangrong wouldn't come to see him! The moment she shows up, grab the child! As for her, I don't care! A vile woman like An Xiangrong deserves a tragic end, deserving of a life of misery!"

An Xiangrong felt her body growing cold. Suppressing the pain in her heart, she hid among the garden bushes.

In this moment, her world totally collapsed!

Gu Mingyu, I didn't care about the consequences when I ran to you, despite being hurt. I thought if I could earn your love, even if the end was looming ahead, I would be contented!

But I never expected that my disregard for consequences would lead to the death of the person who loved me!

Gu Mingyu, are you more than just heartless?

I only hope to live the rest of my life… completely separated from you, never to meet again!
