Collecting knowledge

---Four years after the death of The Dark Lord---

 ---Diagon Alley---

"Are you sure that the first place you want to go is a bookstore?" asked Ollivander with uncertainty for the 9th time in the row.

What responded to him was the same silence, as when he asked before.

Even though Garrick knew, that the boy was unable to feel emotions he tried to make him look for something that could help him.

'It's useless' thought Shane 'Nothing here can help me, if it could I would have known'

Somehow, he was sure that he couldn't find help for his condition in Diagon Alley.

However, he didn't feel disappointment, or frustration.

No, he only felt emptiness.

That emptiness showed in his eyes as the people coming out from the bookstore shuddered, and immediately avoided his emotionless gaze.

He knew he had to come here today, beacause just yesterday he finished all the books he had, and Garrick didn't buy him any new ones since he told him, he wanted to choose them himself.

He stepped forward entering the shop.

"Welcome" said a slightly bored voice of the young purple-haired lady behind the counter wearing the Flourish and Blotts uniform.

After realizing that it's Ollivander who came to her store, she immediately straightened her back, trying to look more serious.

"What do you need sir" she said with a nervous hint in her tone.

'It seems like she didn't hear about Ollivander being a playboy' thought Shane.

"We have some curious business here" said Ollivander in a mysterious tone, which is, how he described it, good for making him seem serious and tricking his customers into thinking so.

"This boy here wants to delve into the mysteries of written words even deeper than he did before" he added in the same mysterious tone.

"Ye-ye-yes sir" she responded "What books do you want boy?" she asked, as she looked at the young, approximately four or five years old boy.

"Can I order books that are not available in this store?" Shane asked looking at the girl.

As she wanted to answer, she looked at the boy, shuddering after hearing his undisturbed by any feelings voice, seeing his emotionless face and cold saphire-like eyes.

"Y-yes" she answered, never expecting before to be nervous facing a boy younger than her, and by so much on top of that.

"Then do you have any list or catalog of all books?" said the boy, this time with a smaller reaction from the other side.

'It's just a little boy' she tried to convince herself 'But how does he look so cold and scary!' she shouted to herself in her mind.

"Excuse me" said Ollivander while coughing "Can you help us miss?" he pulled her out of her thoughts.

"Ah yes, yes" she nervously responded.

She quickly started searching through the drawers.

"Here they are" she said while pulling out a stack of notebooks.

"They are sorted by the categories, that the books belong to" she added showing the Potions category, and then the Charms category.

"Please first show me the language category" said the boy unfazed by the scared glances she was throwing him.

After the girl took out one of the notebooks from the bottom, he looked through the positions written on it.

European Languages by Gabriel Wyner

'That's useless', he knew them all anyway, after he traveled the world in his previous life.

Get the gold with Gobbledegook by Gragkoff the Polyglote

African Languages for Dummies by Ulamvari T'challa

After marking those two books he choose a few others, and then he moved to Potions.

Since soon he wouldn't be contained by the bariers of just few languages, he choose books from all over the world.

Микстуры Дзивнэ пжэз Александр Сергеевич Пушкин

Les potions les plus maléfiques de Joanna d'Arc

He bought a few other books, and moved onto other subjects.

After he finished buying books for advanced Arithmancy, Alchemy, Runes, Astrology, Astronomy and basic books from other subjects he looked up at Ollivander and said "I think that's all"

Garrick's face distorted a little looking at the amount of money paid, but quickly go himself together, after realizing that the shop assistant was looking.

"That will be all, thank you" he said while paying with beautiful manners, making the girl, not expecting the crypting man to be so charming, blush a little.

"Miss Olivia" said Shane, whom the female dominator asked, to keep the old man in check.

That startled Garrick whose face distorted for a momennt, and acting nonchalantly he quickly retreated out of the store.

"So, where do you want to go now, little traitor?" said Ollivander, but without too much anger in his voice, as he knew that would surely get him killed, unlike flirting with girls, where he still had a chance to survive the aftermath.

"Now for the cauldron and potion materials" said Shane not disturbed at all by the way gray haired wand marker called him "And then for some alchemy materials"

"Alchemy, huh?" said Ollivander to himself while they walked towards the Potage's Cauldron Shop.

After they left the shop, Shane was already one expensive deluxe limited edition cauldron richer.

Ollivander could swear, that when he saw the price, he felt his soul setach from his body, and almost went to the other side.

Afterwards they went into the Apothecary when they chanced upon a heated argument.

"I'm telling you that this is Alihotsy!" shouted a witch with a disheveled hair towards a man wearing an apothecary outfit.

"Please miss Julia" said the old raven haired man "If I make a laughing potion with this stalk of eaglet grass, it will turn into a Draught of Living Death with permanent effect" said the man with irony dripping from his voice.

Both of them turned at the sound of the door opening.

"Oh, hello Garrick" said a man his face instantly changing into half-smile "Fancy to see a wandmaker in the place where you buy ingredients"

"Hello Fabian" said Ollivander, with a similar expression on his face "I came here for the boy's potion ingredients"

"Hmmm, is that your son?" said Fabian with curiosity "He doesn't look anything like you!"

Then he looked around, and chasing out the witch he quietly asked

"Or is that son from, you know, the previous one?" he said with a worried face.

"Don't talk nonsense" said Ollivander worried about the news getting to his wife "Florian aked me to take care of him"

"Oooh, so is it his child? I didn't know he was one of us" whispered Fabian with a lewd smile on his face.

"It's not his child, it's Ravenclaw's descendant" said Ollivander stopping the rumours from escalating further.

"WHAT?!?!" shouted Fabian before quickly turning around making sure nobody is around.

"Wasn't her lineage already extinct?" questioned the raven haired man "How come there is still her bloodline left?"

"It involves some secrets" answered Garrick with a sigh "If you want to know you should ask the Greengrass' for answer"

"Okay, okay stiff old man" said Fabian looking at the Shane "So, what do you want boy?" he asked a little bit weirded by lack of emotions, but still keeping his attitude.

"Five portions of every potions ingredient" said boy, making Ollivander feel as if he got a heart attack.

"Are you sure?" asked Fabian looking at the Ollivander "That will be expensive"

"Go on" said Garrick with pained face, taking out his money sack that, even though still thick, however much less so, than a few hours ago.

"Please send them to my house" said Garrick while leaving.

"Write to me when we can go out hunting again" shouted Fabian with a wide smile, making the other old man trip.

"I don't know what you are talking about" said Ollivander with a straight face, glancing at the boy who looked as uninterested as always.

---Ollivanders, Diagon Alley---

Back it the wand shop Shane was looking at the list, that had all of the positions completed.

"We can return now" he said looking at the Ollivander.

"Hold on" said the aged wand maker with a glint in his eyes "I wanted to take you to one more place"

They walked out, and after a few moments they arrived in front of the Magical Menagerie.

"Here" said Garrick with a smile "I got the private deal with my friend for a very dangerous creature for you"

"Obviously dangerous to your enemies, not to you" he chuckled, entering the shop.

"You're finally here" called out a middle-aged woman while spreading her arms.

"Good to see you too Mathilda" laughed Ollivander while hugging her " I came for that favour you promised me"

"So, what do you want from me" her face suddenly changed, and she distanced herself from Ollivander and put her back against the wall.

"Haha, don't worry, it's not what you think" laughed Ollivander "I will be honest with you, I want the young Valravn that you got"

She looked at him with shock in her eyes and whispered getting a little closer "Are you sure? You know that it's a dangerous XXXXX still not registered with the ministry?"

He glanced at her in a weird way and said "Don't act with me. It's not like you never did that"

"Hahaha, that's also true" the shopkeeper answered, with her attitude suddenly taking a sharp turn.

"You know you need child's blood to awaken it?" she said looking weirdly at the emotionless Shane "Is he under the Imperius?" she asked.

"He just doesn't feel emotions" answered Ollivander "And the Valrawn is for him, he can take care of it"

As Mathilda entered store's backroom, Shane sorted out his knowledge about Valrawn's.

Valrawn's were creatures born when corpse of a powerful wizard, or a great leader was consumed by a raven.

After that, they were called cursed creatures, that would burn during the day, until they consumed blood of a child prodigy.

When they get the blood, they were said to be able to transform into knights protecting the child that transformed them.

They were so rare, that during last 300 years, the only one heard about was the one availalble in this shop.

That was all because the powerful wizards rarely died without anyone to bury them, and the Valrawns quickly grew into powerful dark creatures.

They also had very high requirements for the people they chose.

After a few minutes Mathilda came back with a silver box with a few small holes on top, seemingly made from goblin silver.

"Here, you have just two favours left" she said with a sour smile "Remember to return the box, it cost me a lot"

"Thank you Mathilda, how much is it" said Garrick with a distorted face, after remembering, that he has to pay.

"Nine hundred galleons" answered the woman with a cheery smile, making Ollivander wish to die.

After paying they walked back to the Ollivanders shop, Shane once more checked his list, and then they used Floo network to go back to Godrick's Hollow.

"We're back" called out Ollivander, putting the box carefuly to the side.

"Hello my little raven" called out miss Olivia hugging the little boy closely, making Garrick look like an abandoned dog.

"I heard you bought the Valrawn, so I prepared a room for you to try and contract him" said Ollivander's wife smiling reassuredly.

"How do you know?" asked shocked Ollivander "It happened just a dozen minutes ago!"

"I have my ways" she smiled looking down at him.

"So, you should be careful what you do outside" she said touching her nose, and turning around indicating her unwillingness to talk to him any more.

Afterwards she took Shane to a room, where there was a silver cage, with a protective magic circle described on the floor.

'I didn't expect to get such a dangerous animal as a pet' thought Shane while slowly opening the box inside of the cage.

As Olivia quickly closed the cage, from the box came out a small wolf shaped monster, covered in feathers, with wings and a beak full of sharp teeth.

Even though it was young, it still reached the height of Olivia's waist, meaning it was almost as tall as the boy.

"Now give me your arm" said Ollivander's wife "DIFILIOSO!" she called out, using the blood drawing charm.

Then she controlled the blood to fly into the Valravn's beak, which he greedily swallowed.

After a few seconds, just as Olivia was prepared to console Shane, the Valrawn's body started making a cracking sound.

Then, it started to gruesomly transform, it's insides coming out, and slowly turning him into a blob of meat.

After a few seconds, the mass of meat stopped squirming, and it's undefined shape slowly turned into something human-like.

Then under one shocked, and one indifferent gaze, on the whole thing started appearing skin, it's head slowly started letting out a long and wavy golden hair.

Then it's featurless face transformed into a boy, that looked to be about three years old.

Then the boy slowly opened his golden eyes and looked around curiously.

[picture here]

"Master!!!" he called out seeing Shane quickly running to hug him, after Olivia quickly opened the cage.

The boy squeezed Shane, who looking indifferent to that asked "What's your name?"

Valrawn looked at Shane and said "Whatever you want master" with happiness in his voice.

"Then you will be Kyle" said Shane looking at the shorter boy while wondering about how mysterious the change was.

Thank you Rafiul_Mahmud for helping me fix my mistake in previous chapter (I still can't believe I wrote 32 October after spending so much time on calculating the days...)

----------------------

Have some idea about my story? Comment it and let me know.

I wanted to complain a little bit in this chapter again, but I did that in the last one, I'm tired, didn't even finish correcting mistakes in this chapter, and have exams from all subjects in two days, so I decided to spread a little bit of positive energy instead. [Insert positive energy quote here]. And remember if life's not going forward, you have to pull it by the leg.

(I don't know what that's suposed to mean anyway, so yeah...)
