I released Cet well into the opponent's side of the field.
To win my first battle, I endured Joy's Gengar's taunts and Joy's not-so-secret giggles. I had to act like a Zubat for hours on end, just to teach Cet some basic commands.
'No one is going to take that delicious meal away from me oh! and I am going to win my first battle,' I grinned determinedly, it seemed that eating bland food for a day changed my priorities washing away my shame with hunger.
Both Pokemon made their presence known by announcing their names to the world.
Madlyn's Pokemon was a Squirtle- at least this shows the reason for her arrogance.
Just when I was improving my view of her, she scoffed and spoke.
"Let's get this over with."
Many plans ran through my head as I stared at her arrogant expression, I planned for all three Kanto royals and every type of Pokemon, classifying them based on their speed.
As speed is going to be the centrepiece of most of my strategies.
Deciding on a plan and hoping to take advantage of Cet's Position, I commanded.
"Use Gust and move towards it."
I whispered the second half of my sentence, not wanting to leave anything for luck.
"Withdraw," She ordered calmly.
Cet flapped his wings generating concentrated gales of wind and dived down.
The Squirtle weathered the wind, without any indication of damage by withdrawing into its shell.
Not giving Madlyn any time, I shouted.
"Supersonic."
I cupped my hands to create a hole and mimicked shouting into the hole.
Just because I had plans for every Kanto royal doesn't mean Cet knows them.
I didn't expect to meet the royals so quickly.
I waited anxiously to see whether Cet understood me.
Cet, Bless the innocent bugger's heart, he understood me.
He screeched into the main opening of the Squirtle's shell, the weird sound generated by the supersonic move trapped in the turtle's shell, bouncing in it.
The poor Squirtle popped from its shell confused.
Sound is sound whether it is a Hyper voice or supersonic.
Happy that my plan worked, I spoke.
"Take it into the sky."
Cet bit onto the Squirtle's neck from the back and took to the sky.
"Rapid spin. Use Rapid Spin, Azure."
Madlyn's voice could be heard with slight panic in it, but with no use as the Squirtle was too confused to hear her.
'Wow! She still maintains her composure. If it was me, I would have been jumping up and down, praying to the white GOAT' I thought and decided that the height Cet reached was enough.
'I don't want the Squirtle to snap out of his confusion in the air,' I decided and spoke.
"Drop it and follow with Brave Bird."
Cet dropped the Squirtle and dived after it, folding his wings, after a second.
Cet burned with azure energy and slammed the Squirtle onto the ground, kicking up clouds of dust.
We waited with bated breath for the dust to clear.
The dust cleared giving sight to the Squirtle, which was on its last legs. But its mind was clear again. Not wanting to break my momentum, I had Cet use Gust in point-blank range, ending the match.
"Squirtle is unable to battle. Zubat wins. Hey! you didn't introduce yourself, that's rude." Amanda exclaimed.
" Sorry, I am Leon. You can call me Leo," I said rubbing my head sheepishly.
Madlyn was not able to choose between dragging the match or recalling the Squirtle quickly, giving me the chance to end the match on my terms.
I couldn't even find fault with her, her Squirtle was barely standing.
One more Brave bird from Cet would have hospitalized it as only awakened Pokemon can form a barrier, preventing physical and permanent damage until it shatters, the barrier shattering will be indicated by the trademarked swirling eyes, as I had read in the Pokenet.
If I had been greedy and wanted to end the match with only a brave bird, my chances of winning would have gone down. I decided on the drop-off height with the least recorded time for breaking free of confusion in mind to not take pointless risks for a chance of showboating.
The time required for wildlings is 5 to 6 secs on average.
Because even if the Brave Slam, that's what I am calling this combo, failed I would have won the battle by attacking from range. It would have just taken longer, and I did win.
Madlyn took her loss with grace, handing me a mouth-watering packaged meal, the money I won didn't hurt either.
I offered a treat to Cet and a berry for his recoil damage and petted him for some time.
Madlyn stared at me. If you look past her rudeness, she is beautiful.
Most of the new trainers looked like teens and were adults by law. So, I didn't feel too creepy noticing her beauty and me being just a year older than her before I transmigrated helped.
I mean with a year here having 18 months, 10 years old of this world are 15 to 16 years of age when converted to Earth's standard year and I was 17 before I came here.
Even I looked exactly like my previous self, except for the lack of muscles and secondary sexual characteristics.
I observed that my little soldier was never on duty after I came into this world. The on-duty days of my soldier are supposed to be soon, at least according to Pokenet.
People here develop physically and mentally first then the hormones are supposed to hit.
I looked like a ten-year-old of this world when I came here, with my previous secondary sexual characteristics absent.
'God, hope I don't have ED.' I thought and tossed this thought to the back of my head in favour of staring at the pretty Madlyn.
She broke the stare off and as I was celebrating my petty victory in my mind, she spoke.
"Next time, I won't be caught off guard."
I grinned and gave her a thumbs up and turned towards Amanda.
"Do you want to know about the Ducklett?" I asked, trying not to sound hopeful.
She answered back with a grin on her face.
"Of course. Let's battle."
After making sure Cet recovered properly, I spoke.
"Same rules then."
We both agreed and filled in our details in the dex.
Madlyn took the position of referee and started counting down.
"3"
"2"
"1"
"G0"
Cet flew off to the field from my hand as a Charmander appeared in the field.
I cursed my luck softly, two royals back-to-back. It is too much.
Amanda didn't give me time to appreciate her Charmander, unlike Madlyn who gave me the first move, underestimating me.
"Ember, Lizzy," she shouted.
Fire cinders erupted from the Charmander's tail with Cet as the target.
The cinders were large in number and quite fast.
Cet dodged them but not without a cinder scoring a hit.
"Sandscreen," I shouted as I became concerned by the damage suffered from ember.
Cet flexed his wings, giving rise to fierce wind evenly distributed across the battlefield that kicked up dust over half of the battlefield.
"Agility," I whispered.
"Hey! What is with that Ember? It's very fast and has far more coverage area than a standard move. Your Charmander doesn't even look like it made any effort." I shouted at Amanda, aggrieved.
"We practised," she shouted back.
'Like practice could make anyone use that monster imitation of the Ember move,' I thought cursing softly.
Our conversation came to a halt as the dust cleared, revealing Cet who just completed agility.
"Supersonic," I shouted.
Cet flew towards the Charmander and hovered over a certain distance from the Charmander. The specific distance I hammered into him, enduring many headaches in the process.
The Charmander followed Cet swinging his head, just as the attack ended as Cet needed to breathe, Amanda shouted.
"Fire spin".
A fire Tornado formed with the Charmander at the centre burning Cet, who moved away after getting singed by the fire.
'Damn it, that was not supposed to happen.' I thought, bitterly confused.
I guessed the Charmander had a fire-type egg move after witnessing its overpowered Ember.
' The Fire Spin has a tell, it starts with fire snaking around the Charmander and takes a second to form a full tornado,' I observed.
Discarding my frustrations, I looked at the battlefield as Cet easily dodged the OP Ember due to his speed being raised.
'The match can't go on like this, Cet will become tired first due to using the move 'Agility',' I thought.
'In for a penny, in for a pound.' I decided and shouted.
"Use Sandscreen and follow it by Agility."
Once again, the arena was obscured by dust.
"Oh! Come on, don't hide." Amanda shouted.
The Charmander used Ember blindly missing Cet widely.
' Like I would teach Cet to be in a predictable position,' I scoffed inwardly.
After counting down the time required by Cet to boost his speed, I commanded Cet to use supersonic again.
Cet finished his screeching just as the dust settled, from the right side of the Charmander.
"Fire Spin," Amanda called out, sounding excited.
But Cet with two speed buffs, Cet was nothing more than a blur evading the fire.
"Supersonic" I shouted again.
Amanda watched not able to do anything as Charmander was not able to aim at Cet as he always flies in a blind spot, just as he was trained, not being in the same spot for any amount of time.
Cet being a fast blur stopped well outside of any physical retaliation range of the Charmander and moved quickly out of the range after making Charmander using supersonic while maneuvering over the Charmander. Not giving any chance for retaliation.
As the Charmander became confused, I ordered to use Brave Slam again.
'Please no more surprises,' I murmured as I watched Cet drag the Charmander into the sky like it weighs nothing.
