In the midst of a tense atmosphere, Kallen's voice echoed through the room, "Luo Mo!" She called out to Luo Mo once more, her voice filled with a desperate hope for a response. Yet, the room remained eerily silent, the only sound being the faint echo of her own voice.
Luo Mo, on the other hand, found himself at a loss for words. He was caught in a whirlwind of thoughts, unsure of how to respond. After a moment of contemplation, he decided that maintaining the suspense and allowing them to speculate might be the most fitting response.
Kallen, observing Luo Mo's silence, decided not to press further. She leaned back, her mind drifting back to the start of their conversation. The concept of a higher-dimensional existence was brought up. Could it be possible? She pondered over this thought.
With a soft sigh, she turned her attention to Luna. She gently wrapped her arms around the little one, holding her close. After a moment of thought, she spoke, "Forget it, let's leave Luna here with Theresa for now. Theresa, you take care of her!"
Luna, however, was not pleased with this arrangement. "Sister, sister don't leave me, don't give me to, eh!" She protested, her small arms tightening around Kallen. She then turned her head, her eyes landing on someone who bore a striking resemblance to herself.
"Who are you? It feels familiar, human!" Luna's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at Theresa. She tilted her little head, deep in thought, trying to recall where she had seen this person before.
Then it hit her. It was like looking into a mirror. Luna was taken aback, her eyes wide with shock. She looked exactly like her! She couldn't help but steal another glance, her eyes scrutinizing every detail. It was indeed a surprising revelation for the little one.
"Eh? Okay, grandma!" Theresa responded with a nod, readily accepting the task entrusted to her. She was more than willing to look after this girl who bore such a striking resemblance to her.
Meanwhile, Kallen found herself navigating through the interface, her finger finally landing on the icon for Valkyrie Himeko's branch event. This was the final event of the latest update, a moment she had been anticipating.
For Bishop Kallen, the initial part of the branch event's storyline was rather mundane. It was nothing she hadn't seen before. Throughout her life, she had encountered countless Valkyries, each with their own unique stories and struggles.
The human stigmata, the abrupt loss of her father - these were experiences shared by millions of Valkyries. It was a harsh reality, but it was also the very reason for the existence of the Schicksal - to prevent another maiden from enduring such a fate.
As she delved deeper into the bishop's letter, she found herself hanging onto every word. She was curious to understand the mindset of Otto, to see the world through his eyes.
When Captain Himeko posed a question to Bishop Otto, asking if the burden placed on the Valkyrie in the disaster area was too heavy, and if there was a way for her to atone for her mistakes, Otto's response was firm and unwavering. He stated that it couldn't be done.
He further explained that Schicksal had never propagated its beliefs in such a manner. This statement left Kallen pondering. Was this the philosophy that the Valkyries of Schicksal adhered to? The Otto portrayed in the letter seemed reasonable, so how did he transform into the character depicted in the main storyline? It was a question that lingered in her mind.
"Sensei? Is it true that the Schicksal transmits its beliefs in this form, and the Valkyries are responsible for guiding the next generation of Valkyries?" The question hung in the air, a testament to the complex dynamics at play.
There was a tinge of sadness in the atmosphere. Having gotten to know Otto as a Valkyrie, the abrupt shift in the storyline was a bit disconcerting, to say the least.
"Passing on beliefs?" Kallen echoed, her voice laced with a sigh. She found herself grappling with a myriad of questions. If Otto truly held such beliefs, then why would he resort to experimenting on human beings? And if he didn't harbor such thoughts, how could he utter such words?
She found herself unable to decipher Otto's character in the game anymore. A part of her was eager to see Otto's character development in the plot. Yet, she couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that Luo Mo might just be recklessly fabricating things. But she dismissed that thought, shaking her head and deciding to stop pondering over it.
Once the episode ended, the group exited together, their footsteps echoing in the silence. "This afternoon, I'm heading back to headquarters," Kallen announced, her gaze sweeping over Luo Mo, Theresa, and Luna.
"The good news is that it seems like nothing untoward happened today." She glanced at the villa adjacent to them, her voice steady. "Rita and Durandal will be returning to headquarters with me. Theresa, you'll be tasked with continuing to collaborate with the Anti-Entropy girls. And yes, please take care of Luna as well!"
With that, she turned to Luna, her voice softening. "Then Luna, Grandma will be leaving first!" Kareen flashed a warm smile at Luna, who looked up at her with wide eyes.
"Uh, sis, bye!" Luna responded, her cute little face serious and her eyes shining red. At that moment, Kallen felt a strong urge to envelop her in a comforting hug once more.
Theresa, who had been attentively observing her grandmother's gestures from the corner of her eye, found herself rooted to the spot. She had been preparing to bid her grandmother farewell, a routine she had grown accustomed to over the years. Even after hearing her grandmother's words, she subconsciously began to perform the familiar action.
However, she quickly realized that her actions were out of place in the current context. She felt as though she was playing the role of a clown, her actions seeming comically inappropriate.
"But luckily, it was just a minor movement," she thought to herself, hoping that her faux pas had gone unnoticed. "I guess no one saw that."
But before she could even complete her thought, she noticed Luo Mo and Rita. They were both looking at her, their faces adorned with amused smiles. It was clear that they had both witnessed her momentary lapse.
Caught off guard, Theresa let out a surprised "Ummm…!" She quickly covered her face with her hands and darted back into the villa, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Luna, who had been watching the scene unfold, turned to Luo Mo with a puzzled expression. "Human, what happened to that sister just now? Why did she just run away?" she asked, her tiny fingers gently touching the corner of her mouth.
In Luna's eyes, Luo Mo and the captain seemed to share a certain similarity. Although there was a noticeable difference in their facial features and hair, their aura was strikingly similar. Luna couldn't quite understand the situation, but it didn't affect her innate fondness for Luo Mo.
Luo Mo, seeing Luna's confusion, decided to simplify the situation for her. "Just now, that sister was so happy to know she was in charge of taking care of Luna, she ran away out of sheer joy," he explained.
After a moment of contemplation, Luo Mo responded with a sense of certainty in his voice. His decisive reply elicited a light-hearted reaction from Rita and Kallen, who both covered their mouths to suppress their laughter.
Kallen, feeling a pang of guilt, shook her head and said, "It was my fault just now, I'll apologize to Theresa later!" She had noticed Theresa's initial movement and felt responsible for the awkward situation.
In the midst of this, Kallen turned to Luo Mo with a question that had been bothering her. "By the way, Luo Mo, will Luna bite like in the game and need to suck blood?" she asked, her tone laced with concern. "If it's needed, it's better to make some arrangements so as not to hurt others."
It was clear that Kallen held a deep affection for Luna. Even if Luna had the need to suck blood, Kallen had no intention of confining her again. Her love for Luna transcended any potential difficulties.
Luo Mo, sensing their concern, quickly reassured them. "Don't worry, Lord Bishop, Luna doesn't have that kind of trouble now, she's a normal, ordinary person!" His words brought a sigh of relief from Kallen. "That's good!" she exclaimed, relieved that Luna's life would have fewer obstacles to overcome.
With everything settled, Kallen announced her departure. "Then, Rita and I will leave first." Luo Mo nodded in understanding, responding with a respectful, "Okay, Lord Bishop!"
...
As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the landscape, the interior of the villa was bathed in a warm, inviting glow.
"Great aunt, I've come to visit!" Kiana announced, her voice echoing through the spacious villa as she pushed open the heavy wooden door. Her words were laced with a hint of playful sarcasm, a meta tone that hinted at the familiarity between her and the villa's inhabitants.
Earlier in the day, Kiana had suffered a significant setback in a game, a defeat that had left her nursing her wounded pride. However, she was aware that her boss resided in this very villa. Driven by a desire to confront him about the day's events, she had made a beeline for the villa, determination etched on her face.
Upon entering, Kiana was taken aback by the sight of Luna, comfortably ensconced on the plush couch, engrossed in the television program playing on the screen before her.
"Huh~! Auntie, why are you wearing the Luna kindred cosplay! And you're wearing pupils lenses!" Kiana exclaimed, her eyes wide with surprise as she circled Luna, scrutinizing her unusual attire.
A sudden realization dawned on Kiana, her mind connecting the dots. A wicked grin spread across her face as she pieced together the puzzle. "Wait, shouldn't she and the boss… Playing quite fancy!" she mused aloud, her voice filled with amusement.
Caught off guard by Kiana's sudden appearance and barrage of questions, Luna could only stutter out, "Human, human!" She was visibly flustered, her gaze lowered, unable to meet Kiana's probing eyes, her mind scrambling for the right words.
The commotion had not gone unnoticed. At the sound of the voices, Luo Mo and Theresa emerged from the other rooms, their curiosity piqued by the unexpected visitor and the unfolding drama.
Upon laying her eyes on the individual responsible for the day's events, Kiana could no longer contain her frustration. She immediately voiced her grievances, her words echoing through the room.
"And you, boss! This plot you concocted is truly terrible, it brought me to tears, and even made me the Second herrscher in the main story. Let me tell you, in reality, this lady doesn't find herself in such predicaments at all!" Kiana declared, her voice filled with indignation.
Suddenly, she paused, her gaze darting between two figures. "Wait, how come there are two great-aunts? I must have misread it," she mumbled, her brow furrowed in confusion.
Taking a moment to reassess the situation, Kiana glanced over her shoulder at Luna, then shifted her gaze to Theresa standing before her. She rubbed her eyes, as if hoping to clear away the confusion, and looked again.
Then, with an awkward chuckle, she admitted, "Ahaha, so there really are two great-aunts! I thought great-aunts… Wearing… Luna kindred cosplay…"
"Say it, go ahead and say it, my great niece!" Theresa interjected, her gaze icy as she stared at Kiana.
Internally, Theresa was seething. Why was Kiana contemplating wearing Luna's cosplay? What was she planning to use it for? Theresa was convinced that Kiana needed to be taught a lesson, and she was just the person to do it!
