From the Shadows

As we stepped out of the restaurant, my eyes immediately locked onto a man standing on the opposite side of the road. He was draped in black clothes that seemed to meld with the shadows around him. What struck me most were his eyes – they were a mesmerizing shade of honey, glistening brightly even from a distance. His shoulder-length hair framed sharp, distinctive features that I couldn't quite place.

His unwavering gaze was fixed on me, and an odd sensation washed over me as I watched him. It felt as if I had seen those eyes before, as if I had encountered someone with that same piercing gaze in another time and place. Goosebumps prickled my skin, and my heart rate quickened.

"Zane, who's that?" I tugged at Zane's arm, my voice tinged with urgency. He turned to look in my direction, his expression puzzled.

"Who?" he asked, his hazel eyes scanning the area. I stared at him, incredulous. Was he blind? The man was standing right there.
