Regardless of whether it was the ninja clan, Wolverine, or Yukio, who had been secretly guarding Mariko from a high vantage point, none of them expected that Max would intervene midway!
Who had taken Mariko?
"Sacred Gate, it's him…"
Suddenly, someone from the Ninja Clan shouted.
The Sacred Gates?
The person who had killed the original leader of the ninja clan?
"Chase them! Chase them down!"
Black Ninja clan hastily organized a pursuit. Wolverine quickly mobilized his people to follow suit.
Regardless of which side they were on, their goal was clear: to bring Mariko back!
....
The car sped through the bustling city and veered into a narrow alley.
"This is a dead end!"
As the car entered the alley, the end was clearly visible—a wall. However, Max showed no intention of stopping or reversing, much to Mariko's alarm.
"I know!" Max replied calmly and, just a few meters from the wall, slammed on the brakes.
"Get out of the car!"
"Who are you? Why did you kidnap me?" Mariko asked anxiously as Max grabbed her arm and led her towards the wall. "What are you planning? This is a dead end, you…"
Max raised his hand and touched the wall, causing a door to materialize instantly.
Opening the door, Max glanced at the bewildered Mariko.
"There are no dead ends here!"
With that, Max ushered Mariko inside.
Not long after they entered, the Ninja Clan members and Wolverine finally caught up. They gazed at the abandoned car and the dead-end alley, falling into momentary silence.
"Where did the vanish to?"
They had practically watched the car drive in, so where had Max and Mariko vanished to?
The Ninja Clan members quickly scaled the wall and continued their search, but there was no sign of Max and Mariko.
Twenty minutes later, in a vacant hotel room, a door suddenly materialized in the center of the room. The door swung open.
Max stepped out, accompanied by Mariko.
Mariko gazed around in bewilderment as Max closed the door, causing it to vanish.
"Are you... a Mutant? Why did you abduct me?" Mariko inquired with a complex expression as she watched Max walk over to the window and peer outside.
"Why do you assume I kidnapped you?" Max turned with a smile and asked. "If you recall correctly, you were taken by someone from the Ninja Clan, and I rescued you!"
Mariko was left dumbfounded and apologized, "Thank you for saving me. Can I leave now?"
"Don't worry; I haven't finished speaking. I saved you before, but now I'm abducting you."
"You!" Mariko was at a loss for words, choked by the revelation.
Ignoring Mariko's reaction, Max strolled over and took a seat. Today had become rather intriguing. Although the Ninja Clan was powerful, even the new leader must be seeking ways to solidify their position. So, after addressing this matter, what intrigued Max the most was... who had hired them?
Max retrieved the satellite phone provided by Shingen, and it coincidentally rang.
"Have you succeeded?" Shingen inquired in his first words.
"Yes," Max affirmed.
"Did you hire the Ninjas," Max asked in a slow voice.
"No, I haven't," Shingen responsed in a confused voice.
"Then I will wait for updates from your side," Max eneded the call after saying this.
Putting the phone away, Max couldn't help narrowing his eyes, rhythmically tapping his fingers on his leg.
There was no reason for Shingen to deceive him, so would the Ninjas have truly acted independently in abducting Mariko?
"What's your name?" Mariko suddenly asked Max.
"Are you seeking my info to negotiate with me?" Max replied with a smile.
"I won't inquire about who hired you to abduct me, but I assume you're motivated by money? I've heard that Mutants are in dire straits. Whatever they offered you, I'll double it. I understand that you must have investigated me if you planned to kidnap me. I'm the heir of the Yoshida Group, and I won't deceive you!"
"It depends on your credentials. While I don't mind a winner-takes-all scenario, I still adhere to some basic professional ethics…"
Hiss!
Before Max could finish his sentence, the room's door was suddenly punctured, with three gleaming steel claws piercing through the door panel. Then, with a resounding crash, the door was forcibly thrust open.
Wolverine burst in, his body covered in blood.
Simultaneously, the window on the opposite side shattered, and an agile figure emerged, brandishing a Katana.
Wolverine and Yukio!
"Interesting," Max squinted and grinned looking at Mariko.
