Aidan Lucas stood beside the hospital bed, watching the unconscious little woman.

Lily Gray's delicate face was as pale as paper. Her usually flirtatious and enchanting eyes were tightly closed, looking lifeless and fragile, as if they would shatter at the slightest touch.

Seeing her like this, he experienced the feeling of being afraid to lose her for the first time ever.

He couldn't help but reach out, his hand gently touching her brow, moving down along her eyebrow, passing over her cute little raised nose tip, and finally resting on her soft cherry lips.

His rough thumb tenderly rubbed them, but soon he realized his own impropriety.

Agitated, he quickly pulled his hand back, Aidan looked at the woman on the bed with a complex expression.

He suddenly couldn't understand his own heart.
