Canteen Fight (two)

Max was taken aback on the inspection that he had done on James and Gabriel.

< Name: James Carter >

< AR: B1 >

< Ability: Telekinesis > (Second Upgrade on Telekinesis ability)

< Name: Gabriel Kael >

< AR: C1 >

< Ability: Fire Balls > (First upgrade on Flame Ability)

From Max's inspection, James was a formidable opponent against Gabriel. But Max for some reason was worried for James as he haven't seen him in action before.

When Gabriel heard James calling him a loser, he immediately walked up to James and observed him from head to toe. James didn't appear to be weak, but Gabriel didn't let it slide either.

"What did you call me?" Gabriel asked clenching his fist, ready to summon fireballs.

James grinned mischievously and repeated the what he said slowly as he gazed right into Gabriel eyes.

"I said..."

Before James could complete his statement, he was struck with a fireball by Gabriel.

Unlike Nash who didn't expect the surprised attack, James managed to block it to lessen it's effect on him.

Even though James blocked the attack, his stripes also turned orange. This made James even more mad.

Gabriel shot out more fireballs towards James, but to his surprise his fireballs stopped instantly just as they were to touch James.

"What! Is he a flame user as well?"

"Could anyone do something like that?"

"He must be a leader in Flame Ability."

The students wondered all sought of things, but none of them even have the slightest clue that James was a telekinesis user.

James looked at the fireballs, and without saying a word or moving, he sent them back at Gabriel, twice the speed Gabriel had used. Even with the double speed, Gabriel dodged them before they could reach him.

If not that Max already knew what kind of ability user James was, he could have joined the students in conclusion that James was also a flame user.

With the way the fireballs stopped, it was just as if they recognized James. And how he sent them back was even more convincing that he could be a flame user.

While their brawl continued and intensified a voice echoed loud from the speakers on the canteen hall. It was the Hologram Lady again and she wanted to make an announcement.

James and Gabriel stopped fighting immediately and listen attentively like the others. Max thought what the hologram lady wanted to address were the fightings, but her announcement was far from it.

[Hello everyone, I hope you're all enjoying your stay here?]

"Does it look like we're enjoying it?" Max muttered under his breath as he looked at the hologram lady.

[I want to inform or rather, remind you guys that your parents will be coming over tomorrow to see you guys as it's the end of the week. All your parents have been invited and you should make up time to meet with them, who knows when you people will see them again? Maybe another month or two.]

With that brief announcement, the hologram lady disappeared and everyone returned back to what they were doing.

Immediately after the announcement, Max quickly approached James and talked him down from continuing the brawl with Gabriel.

Gabriel on the other hand also wanted the fight to stop because he was also begining to think that James was a more powerful flame user than he is. It was also clear that James was holding back as he wasn't stressing himself to move around or attack.

The only reason why James was able to control the fireballs was because he used his telekinesis ability. Most telekinesis users control objects with hand demonstration, but James was already pass that. He could move things with just his mind without using his hands for demonstration. This is why they all didn't notice he was a telekinesis user.

"Come on, let's go." Max said to James.

Caleb also rushed to their side and supported Max that they should return back to their room for the rest of the day. However, James wasn't going to leave without his lunch.

Due to the fight that escalated, the line was scattered and that gave James a open cheque to walk straight to the dashboard and place his order.

Soon, they were back in their room. Max was so excited that his parents were coming over, or maybe just his mother as his father always claims to be busy; his mother's words.

"Dude, I didn't know that you were a flame user. And a higher ranked one at that." Said Caleb.

"What can I say? Everyone have surprises." James replied, claiming to be a flame user.

Max raised an eyebrow at James who he knew was lying. However, Max couldn't confront James as his inspection ability was a secret. He couldn't tell Caleb that James was a telekinesis user as that will only make them ask him questions about his source of information.

"Damnit! I which I knew this sooner, I wouldn't have stopped you back in the bowling alley." Caleb said.

"Is there also a bowling alley in the school?" Max quickly asked, because during the tour no one mentioned it.

"Not in the school. The bowling alley is outside the school, in the military city." Replied Caleb.

"What! You guys went out without me?" Max asked in frustration.

With a piece of meat in his mouth, James responded. "Well you went out without us first."

"At least it was between the school." Max retorted.

There was a more pressing question that Max could've ask, which was what Caleb stopped James from doing, but instead Max's concern was the fact that they left the school ground without him.

And once again, Max and James were arguing over petty matters. And as always, Caleb won't contribute a single word.

Few hours later, it was dinner time and they all returned back to the canteen for group dinner.

Long wooden tables stretched across the room, accompanied by cozy chairs and benches that provided ample seating for the students.

The students roamed the canteen, seated mostly in groups and sharing laughter. The only students that were not in groups were mostly weirdos or those that were marked as plain user in the school.

Dinner was swift as there wasn't any form of commotion, or bullying. That's mostly thanks to James standing up against Gabriel, because if he hadn't, other students would've repeated what Gabriel did during lunch.

When they returned back to their room, Max decided to sleep on time since he noticed that the longer he sleeps, the more experience points he will be rewarded in the morning.

Out of the five daily tasks that the book gave Max, he only completed one which was sleeping. Maybe as from next week, Max won't be having a problem completing the daily task that says "Spar".

(The next day)

Max woke up and discovered that James and Caleb were still sleeping. Immediately, he grumbled thinking he had woken up too early which means that his experience points will be few. He planned on sleeping for at least 10 to 11 hours. Max tried to sleep for another hour, but that was when he received his morning message from the system.

< 15 Exp rewarded for completing a daily task >

< 22/100 Exp >

"Huh!"

Max was confused about the message he received. Fifteen Exp will only be rewarded if he had slept for more that 15 hours. He immediately looked at his wrist for time and upon seeing where the time was, he shouted on top of his voice. It was just few minutes away from noon.

What bothered Max even more was the fact that the school didn't mention the time their parents were going to start visiting. He quickly woke up James and Caleb.

"Guys, we should be up and running. Look at your time guys, we've overslept." Max stated, but the reaction he was getting from them wasn't the one he had anticipated.

"It's almost noon guys. Remember today is parent's visiting day." Max reminded them of the time and purpose of the day, but their reaction remained the same. Soon, Caleb voiced out.

"I'm not going."

"Me too." James said.
