Percy said nothing and both of them stared at each other for a whole minute, not moving a single inch. The silence was broken by a long sigh from Percy.
"If only this world didn't restrict my powers so much… My job is to kill the protagonists but my luck was so bad that I got tangled into this shitty contract of protecting Harry so now I can't kill him.
When I was cursing my luck, I noticed those chains around you and that meant only one thing and I explained it all to you already. I did hide one thing and that's the fact that souls who aren't initially from this world are able to become the protagonists.
In other words, the threads of fate will condense near you, granting you incredible luck or power. That's what a protagonist is. All I had to do is find a way to transfer all the threads of fate near Harry to you and then kill you. That was the only method I had.
Now that I learn about the prophecy from you, we can use Neville as the scapegoat. What do you say?"
The moment he finished speaking, he felt himself levitate in the air, unable to move a single muscle while Alex stared up at him with his want pointing up. Percy could tell that the look meant decisiveness.
"I've come to like Neville quite a bit recently and killing him is not in my best interests. To me, it is more convenient to kill you instead and it is a much better option since you are still an unknown threat to me. But before we get to that…", he said and a small glass vial appeared in front of him from one of his rings.
"Let's make full use of you, shall we?"
*********
Percy had spilled everything Alex wanted to know but it didn't help him too much in surviving. His body lay down on the ground lifeless while Alex walked towards Isis with the same vial of potion he had used on Percy. On his way, he dropped a small orb filled with a silvery viscous substance into one of his inner pockets.
He expected her to resist him but she readily drank a few drops of what she assumed to be veritaserum.
When he gave her a look of confusion, she said, "You will kill me if I didn't drink it and I'm simply following your orders, the orders you gave me through one of your books but it burned to ashes after I read it once."
"Hmm… ", Alex stared at her but he knew the effects of the potion.
"There is something you have to see… maybe that will change your mind?", she said as she looked down at her left leg.
"Something that will change my mind and in turn, save your life… All right, show me."
Isis didn't show him anything, but instead said, "Cut off my legs…". Isis expected Alex to hesitate at least a little before cutting them off but he simply flew backward and two of the wooden ropes grabbed onto Isis's thighs and squeezed hard.
It only took a second but the legs fell off while small pieces of bones and flesh dangled off of Isis's remaining bleeding thighs. A few seconds after the legs came off, they shriveled up, and inside one of the legs was a small piece of parchment.
Alex used two of the free ropes to pick it up and read it while it was dangling mid-air, not paying attention to the few charms on the parchment as they weren't harmful in any way.
[Lucio is somewhat like my son, I taught him a method of mind control that is way stronger and more efficient compared to the imperius curse but the price one has to pay is huge. You will learn about his ancestry soon and as much as I'd love to tell you about my future, some things should not be said. You will understand when you dabble in time magic. I suggest keeping Lucio alive as he doesn't really have the will to fight against someone of my caliber. I mean your caliber. Turn the page and you will see how the mind control thing works and lastly, you are wary of the wrong person.]
"You were right…", he said, ignoring the blood dripping off of her thighs as he took out the glass orb that he had put inside one of his pockets.
"I will spare your life but in return, you will work for me for ten years. Do you agree?"
"Of course, I agree. I still have to go back to my mother. But how am I supposed to help when I don't even have legs?"
"You will be switching bodies and also, we will be spending some time talking about the things you did after coming here first."
It wouldn't be surprising to say that they talked for a few days while the time was in stasis and after Alex learned about all the things he wanted, he cracked the orb and shot it into Isis's head who fainted in an instant.
It didn't take too long for Isis to wake up. She placed her hands on the closed ends of her stumps before speaking, "I did it… and no, he didn't hide anything from you. Those chains are connected to the devils as he said and the information he told us about them is also all true. What's the next step?"
"Next step is to bring back all your soul fragments. You don't want to keep controlling those people forever, do you?"
When Alex heard of its functions, he directly came to the conclusion that it was inspired by the concept of Horcruxes and that explained the inhumane appearance of Lucio.
"Huh? But you never wrote how to do it."
