CHAPTER 26

/ Seattle - Same Night /

-Third Pov-

A man wearing a brown coat can be seen walking out of a mall. He then walks down the road and goes into an alleyway. A moment later, the same man comes out, but now he is wearing a black suit with a red tie and carrying a suitcase.

The man pulls out a paper and looks at it for a second, then he continues to walk. After a few minutes, the man is now standing in front of a two-story bookstore. The store is called,

[ The ??? Bookstore - Branch 1869 ]

The man double-checked the paper and put it back in his pocket, then he walked into the store.

*Kring*

The bookstore was vintage-looking, with a lot of its furniture made out of wood that looked hundreds of years old. The store was spacious and had a lot of private rooms for customers who would like to read in peace.

There is an old man at the reception table. He has white hair and a long white beard. However, what makes it odd is that the old man doesn't have wrinkles or freckles on his face. He looks rather "Young."

The man from before approached the old man, and the old man said, "How can I help you, Sir?"

The man just stays silent, but then he stares at the old man, and his eyes turn red, as do the old man's.

"May I see your Sign Of Approval, please?" The old man said.

The man in the suit nodded and took out something from his breast pocket. It was a card, black in color with a combination of red and white. The old man took the card and inspected it. After a few moments, the old man smiled and nodded in approval.

He then said, "What would you like to read, Sir?"

"The Great Britain - Order 67." The man in the suit answered.

The old man then said, "Shelf 2, column 6th, and row 7th from the left. And please, proceed to room number 2."

The man nodded, and then he went to shelf 2 to take the book. After that, he went to room number 2. In the room, there are only 2 chairs, a table, and a vintage telephone.

The man then sat down on one of the chairs. After that, he opened the book and went to the last page. There is a 10-digit number at the bottom of the page. Then the man proceeded to input the digits on the telephone, picked up the phone, and waited for a second before a voice could be heard from the other end of the phone.

"Status."

"We found him, Seattle, Washington DC."

"Proceed."

"We have a situation..."

"..." There was silence on the other end of the phone, so the man continued talking.

"The Cullens."

"..."

"Bird's eye, Caution."

"Affirmative."

Then the call was abruptly ended from the other side, so the man hung up the phone and left the room.

He then put the book back in the position it was in before it was taken and proceeded to walk out of the store. However, before he could exit, the old man said,

"May The Blood Of Our Victims Guide Us All..."

The man looked at him, bowing slightly, and said,

"May The Blood Of Our Victims Guide Us All."

/ Still the same night - After Shopping /

-MC Pov-

We arrived home and I still felt uneasy, so without further waiting, I sat in meditation mode where I sat on my legs. I began searching for the center point of Forks, and after about a minute, I found it.

I then proceeded to walk out of the house, but before I could advance any further, Alice stopped me, "Where are you going?"

"I need to do something," I answered with a solemn expression.

Alice, with a look of understanding in her eyes, nodded and said, "I'll come with you." I nodded, and then we went right away to our destination.

We ran through the forest, and along the way, no words were said. Before long, we reached a clearing and stopped there.

"Mikael... what are we doing here?" Alice asked in a concerned tone.

"What's wrong?" I asked back.

She answered, "This is the border between us and the dogs!"

"Ahh, you mean the shapeshifters? Those wolves? Don't worry about them, we're not trespassing," I answered and walked further to the border. I already "knew" about them because the day after prom, the Cullens told me about the Quileute tribe and their treaty with them.

I drew my sword from my storage ring and swiftly slashed the ground, forming a long line that divided two territories.

I then took something from my storage ring, and it was a jade hairpin. I had a history with this item, it was the most treasured artifact of the Jade Palace back when I was in Murim.

Jade Palace was the place only for female martial artists and cultivators. It was the place where jade beauties and fairies resided. Most men of Murim said the Palace was the most valuable treasure on earth, but not for me.

When I was at war with the Alliance, the Jade Palace was one of their strongholds. My troops endured the most cruel torture when we entered their territory. The enemy always knew where we were, our every movement, and even our breaths.

And the cause of that was this hairpin, the most treasured artifact of their palace. So I had to make a decision right there and then. I decided to go alone, rallying all of my troops to the east front of our battle.

I forced my way in and fought a hard battle there, with enemies attacking from all sides, traps, etc. In the end, after I defeated their leader, The Divine Beauty Of Seven Palaces, I emerged victorious and received this hairpin as my reward.

What this hairpin does is that it can detect all beings, both living and dead. It's kind of like a defensive-type array, so this artifact would be very useful for me since I intend to make Forks my home.

*Growl*

Multiple growls can be heard near us and I already knew they were coming, before Alice can said anything, I stopped her.

"We mean you no harm, see? we're not even on your territory."

I then ignored them and proceeded with what I wanted to do. So, I put my own signature energy on the hairpin and added a rune. The purpose of the rune was to automatically gather energy from nature, but only on a small scale to keep this array running, as I didn't want the energy in Forks to be depleted.

After I had done everything, I stepped to the border line and received another growl from the wolves, the Uley pack to be precise, because I recognized Sam standing in front of them.

I then inserted the hairpin into the border line, and instantly, the energy from the hairpin spread throughout Forks; nothing remained untouched by it. Naturally, I was the sole individual capable of sensing it, and I was also the only one able to remove this hairpin since my unique energy is contained within it.

"See? No treaty has been broken," I said, smiling at them. They growled again and vanished into the woods.

I then went to Alice, and she immediately asked, "What was that?"

I just smiled, then princess carried her, and said, "Let's talk at home."
