"Ethel, how could you?" Cecilia asked angrily, unable to control her temper. The atmosphere was tense, and she tried to hold it in, but the sight of Ethel brought back so many bitter-sweet memories that Cecilia could not let go of.
Ethel was sorrowful, but regret was far from her. She was ready to go to jail if that would make Cecilia happy.
However, if the opportunity presented itself again, she knew that she would still not change the hands of time.
"I know that my actions were wrong, but Jacob is all I have after Ronald refused to love me," Ethel complained bitterly. She was good looking for her age, and if not told, no one would even know that she was sick.
"You can't force a man to love you," Cecilia shot back. Not even the aroma of the delicacies on the dining table was enough to ease the tension, as neither Cecilia nor Ethel were ready to back down.
