The Supply From The City

Howl!

Some distinct wolves howling could be heard from the village. It was the time of the evening when everyone was returning to their home after a tiring day in their fields.

In the spirit world, the mortals never wander outside after the sun goes down the horizon, disappearing from the world like it never existed in the first place. It was different from the earth, every night was a horrendous survival time for them because nobody knew when one terrifying beast will predate their homes.

"You gotta give me more share, I did more work than him,"

An old-looking grandpa protested against the distribution of meat.

He looked frail and old barely standing on his feet with a wooden stick in his hand, behind him was hiding a ten-year-old girl.

She had a scared expression on her face, clearly frightened by the savage appearance of Necker who was distributing it.

"Fuck off! He did triple the amount of work in comparison to you, does anyone think that this old man can work more than the strong guy standing up here?"

Necker had a sinister expression on his face while he stared at the little girl.

"No!"

"Of course not!"

Many voices berated the old man with the scoffing expression on their faces. First, they would not dare to go against Dinah and second by using common sense, everyone concluded that a strong man would outclass the old man in terms of stamina so it was impossible for an old man to do more work than him.

"See, now take this and get out of my sight before I order to imprison you!"

Necker's savage expression was ferocious, he threw a pitiful amount of meat towards him and began gesturing at the next person in line to stand before him.

"It's okay grandpa, we can catch some eggs later,"

The ten years old girl comforted the old man named Ser. Tears gushed out of the old man who laughed at his tragedy recalling the past time when his son was still alive, he recalled how satisfied they were in the city as his honest son worked day and night and built a house.

They ate meals at least four times and dry meat in the morning for nourishment. But one day everything changed, a big brawny man entered his home and dragged his daughter-in-law and sent it to the city lord's mansion.

Facing the cultivator, the old man could not even protest becoming unconscious by his aura. Later, the news spread out informing him that his filial daughter-in-law was raped and tortured to death for the entertainment of a cultivator guest who arrived in the city lord's man.

Listening to this, his son lost all rationality and demanded justice for her from the upper echelon. On his way back home with the dead body of his beautiful wife, he was killed by a demonic cultivator.

Any intelligent man could discern that it was the work of the city lord's guards, so Ser fled with his granddaughter and hid with her for safety. But the reality was cruel, due to being an old man with no support, he had to work more than everyone to get the same amount of supply which he did not even get today.

Despite many suggestions that he should allow his granddaughter to marry either Necker's son or Necker himself, Ser remained unmoved. Having already experienced the tragedy of losing his son and daughter-in-law to powerful people, he was disgusted by the idea and didn't want his granddaughter to suffer a similar fate.

"I think you are being unfair to him,"

Orion's voice echoed in the surroundings while he entered the sight with Angelica.

The supply distribution was taking place below a big banyan tree, while Necker was in charge as he sat there on a big chair.

Necker's body tensed looking at the anomaly.

A drop of sweat appeared on his face, he knew that he was facing a human who was above mortality.

Those eyes which were a bit red and half silver mixed with violet colour send chills down his spine in the cold evening.

"Do you think everyone's decision is wrong?"

A lackey who was bald and had his muscles bulging out of his body questioned Orion with a deep gaze attempting to intimidate the teenager.

Necker was about to stand up but he thought of his power and position so he stayed seated.

"Yes,"

Orion slowly let go of Angelica's hand who was a bit nervous before everyone, and take a step forward.

The lackey was surprised and could not think of any new sentence, he did not expect that answer from him.

"Enough! Maybe you're smart and intelligent enough to prove everyone's decision wrong, but you can't go against the decision of the village chief. If you want him to take back his sentence, go and appeal before him,"

Necker though scared of Orion did not give in. He manipulated everyone on the spot pointing out that Orion was thinking his decision was right and others were wrong which induced hostility against him among the majority.

"He is too arrogant, it's alright to think that someone is wrong but saying everyone is wrong just shows his ignorance and arrogance,"

A villager could not help but present his hostility in words.

Many villagers joined and agreed with his sentence.

Second, Necker showed the authority of the village chief telling him to go and appeal to make the village chief retract his distribution. By doing that he would be able to make him go and urge the village chief, while Dinah would be able to control this rising cultivator.

"So what if I think you all are wrong? Most of you are trashes who never went out of the village and are frogs in the well, but look at me I came from the city, and saw more world than all of you so obviously I have a better ability of decision making rather than some of the savages here,"

Alas! This plan was disrupted because Orion had lived two lives, not one, he carefully structured his words bringing out the inferiority of villagers and called Necker and his team a bunch of savages with a subtle hint.

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
