As Count Corrado looked around, he noticed many of his soldiers staring at him with fear in their eyes, unsure whether they should be relieved that their city had been saved or horrified by the events that had occurred. They were filled with confusion, fear, and anxiety.

  ''Did he make a pact with the devil? Are the stories true?'' said a soldier in a low voice to his companion.  They'd all seen the effects of the sulfur stones on the French with their own eyes, and they'd heard the enemy scream engulfed in golden fire .

  The soldier's companion nodded, equally unsure of what to make of the situation. The rumors and legends surrounding their commander's abilities only added to their unease, leaving them questioning the source of his power and the potential consequences it may bring.
