Breakthrough

Mo Bei stood on the academy grounds, watching as his two subordinates, Shi Feng and Tang Chi, approached him. Both of them were at the middle stage of rank 1 Gu realm, eager to break through to the upper stage. Mo Bei had promised to give them pointers, and he was ready to deliver. They had been stuck in a bottleneck for quite some time now.

Unlike the breakthrough from initial to middle stage, the breakthrough from middle to upper stage required tenacity and a considerable amount of primeval stones. In itself, this was not a problem, but the process could be very long and tedious, taking up to several hours. It would be very easy to give up alone, but Mo Bei decided to help his friends break through the upper stage.

"Good morning, Boss," Shi Feng said as he bowed.

"Good morning, Boss," Tang Chi echoed.

Mo Bei nodded in greeting. "Are you both ready to begin?" he asked.

"Yes, Boss," Shi Feng and Tang Chi said in unison.

Shi Feng's parents were hunters who were hardly home. Most of the time, they would track wolves and deers, hunting them for the sake of the village. As for Tang Chi, her parents came from the Mo faction, and were agents specialized in investigations. This is also the reason why he had said that the [Blood Skull Gu] would suit her.

"Alright, let's start," Mo Bei said. "First, let's talk about the cultivation process. The key to breaking through to the upper stage is to focus your primeval essence to its fullest potential."

"Now, let's move on to practical training," Mo Bei said, clapping his hands together. "Shi Feng, Tang Chi, I want you to focus on your primeval essence and try to break through to the upper stage."

Shi Feng and Tang Chi closed their eyes, focusing their energy on their bodies. Mo Bei watched as their aura intensified, feeling the primeval essence resonate within them.

"Good, you're doing well," Mo Bei said. "Now, I want you to channel that energy into your walls like a wave. It must not be a continuous flux, but waves to further increase its efficiency"

Shi Feng and Tang Chi concentrated even harder, pouring their primeval essence onto their aperture walls, following Mo Bei's isntructions. Suddenly, both of them felt a surge of power, and their Gu started to glow brightly.

Mo Bei nodded in approval. "Do not give up! Continue!"

The faces of his subordinates were quite ugly as they were struggling a lot, but Mo Bei kept putting primeval stones next to them, allowing them to replenish their primeval essence and continue increase the pressure on their aperture wall.

Forty minutes later, Mo Bei congratulated them: "You are worthy of being my subordinates! You've broken through to the upper stage."

Shi Feng and Tang Chi opened their eyes, looking at each other in amazement. "Thank you, Boss," they said.

Mo Bei smiled. "You both have worked hard. Remember, cultivation is a lifelong journey. Keep practicing and honing your skills, and you will reach greater heights."

He had achieved his goal. Chi Chen had not yet broken through the upper stage, yet they were now four in the class, having achieved this: Fang Zheng, Mo Bei, Tang Chi and Shi Feng.

He wondered how the young Chi family heir would react upon hearing about the news.

Checking his aperture, Mo Bei had a calm thought: 'It is still too early for me to break through the rank 2 realm...However, I guess I will meet the necessary requirements in one month!'
