Atop the hill at the Northern part of Nexus City stood the Chief's Hall, the Temple of Ninreel, and other important stone structures, housing the nobles and citizens alike as they meet for the city's civic and religious functions. As an acropolis, the place had few points of entry that makes it secure even in the worst of siege battles. This setup enables its occupants to turn the place into a fortress and a place of refuge in times of need.
But as the dominant city of the Nozul Islands, Nexus had never seen its walls breached by invaders since its foundation. In the past and even to this date, though in decline the Nexian rulers had acted as the hegemons of the Nozul Islands, using their influence to command their neighboring allies to defend its borders in exchange of economic and diplomatic advantages that the city could leverage over their defenders.
