Chapter 15

Davien.

"An Omega is capable of killing an Alpha." He announced with no remorse, sending the entire room into a stilling silence.

Silvia gasped and covered her mouth, "Kian," she mouthed, then passed me a questioning glance. I avoided her gaze but could feel everyone's directed at me.

This kid…

"What the hell are you talking about? Do you even realize what you're saying?" Alpha Theo asked in rage, stepping forward with his beta in tow.

Kian remained his composure and replied, "Did you not hear me the first time I said it? I said that an Omega is capable of killing an Alpha."

Alpha Theo clicked his tongue, "Do you even hear yourself? What the hell do you think you're saying at a mentorship program?" He clenched his jaw, unpleased by this.

"Why is someone like you even here …" he was saying, only for Kian to cut him short.

"Because I was invited." He sharply inserted, "And just like the rest of you, I have a thing or two to tell the young generation, from the eyes of an Omega." He said in a sharp tone, not spiteful, but formally.

Unlike Alpha Theo, Kian did not lose his composure.

Silvia tugged on my sleeve and spoke in whispers "What is going on here Davien? Why is my brother here?"

With my eyes not leaving her brother for a second, I responded, "It seems he was invited by the granddaughter Carol." I didn't know at the time what I was feeling, granted I was angry he came Without my knowledge.

But at the same time, I felt the need to protect him, from all the glares and unforgiving stares directed at him.

Silvia shook her head, "He hates public speaking, he wouldn't do this of his own accord." She retorted, still holding onto my sleeve, her grip instinctively grew tighter.

She was nervous.

"Are you insinuating that someone is forcing him into doing this?" I couldn't imagine the thought that someone could make that kid carry out their bidding.

Even though I hadn't known him for long, it sounded very unlikely.

"You don't know him like I do, my little brother can't stand crowds. Just please, get him out of there…" She grabbed my arm and brought my eyes to meet hers.

"Please, before something bad happens," Silvia spoke in a soft voice, her vulnerability written all over her face.

"He'll listen to you…"

"I highly doubt that anyone can get through to him."

She narrowed her eyes, "You're his mate and his Alpha, it's worth a shot." Silvia said, before letting go of me and returning her focus to the scene in front of us.

A sigh escaped my lips, it just wasn't possible that Kian placed me on such a high pedestal just because I was his mate. The kid can't even tolerate the sight of me, there was just no chance he would just do as I say.

"It isn't impossible, just because something is difficult doesn't mean it can't be done. Omega wolves are deemed the weakest in the pack and easy prey for stronger shifters to pick on." He took a pause and exhaled sharply, he seemed to have lost his cool for a second.

Straightening his shirt, he continued, "However, what's fascinating to note is that over the past few decades, not once has it been recorded that an Omega has challenged, talk less of defeating an Alpha…"

Theo interrupted sternly, "That's because they can't!" He ran a frustrated hand through his hair. "What is this runt even teaching our pups?"

"They can't because you don't let them think so. Right from the beginning, Omegas are denied the right to train with the other wolves, they're isolated from the pack and made to suffer all sorts of humiliation. It's as a result of toxic mental conditioning, that an Omega feels less than they should." Kian argued, raising his pitch, causing Theo and the others to scoff at him.

"That's ridiculous! So now we have to lie to the Omegas? Isn't feeding and protecting them enough? They're not strong enough for battle, nor do they bring in a decent hunt. Why do we have to put up a farce of equality? Is that the kind of generation you want to bring up?" Theo's argument without a doubt won over the other Alphas in attendance.

The entire room turned on Kian, but he didn't relent, pushing forward he argued, "Omegas are still a part of the pack, just because someone is born weaker, does not give you the right to sit down and plan their fate for them…"

Alpha Zach interjected sharply, "Whose idea was it to make an Omega mentor anyway?" He sneered, striking a cord in me.

"If I knew that such a foolish idealistic kid would be here, I would've never honored the invitation. Tch, his very presence is distasteful." Alpha Zach spat, the fucker actually spat in Kian's direction, breaking my resolve.

I didn't know when my feet glided across the room, or when I curled my fingers into a fist, but the last thing I recalled, my raising my balled fist over my head, and landing it on his jaw.

"Watch what you say to him. Do you understand?" I towered over a stumbling Zach, whose lip was bruised from just a single punch.

The hall turned chaotic in seconds!

"What the fuck Davien?!" Zach cursed, finally standing up straight, he charged at me and grabbed me by the collar, his pride and ego bruised.

His grip wasn't as tight as it looked, Zach, just like most of the Alphas in attendance, rose to their position purely because of their hereditary advantages. Even if there were more suited candidates to take over, it wouldn't be allowed.

My father never encouraged that bullshit, that was why I had to compete with the others before I finally took over and became Alpha.

Watching these half-baked Alphas point at Kian and make fun of his efforts made me all sorts of mad. I peeled his hands off my collar and stared him down, seconds away from shifting my eyes.

Theo rushed over and rested a palm on my shoulder, "Davien, that's enough! Apologize to Zach…"

*Slap*

I slapped his hand away and walked past Zach, brushing my shoulder against his, as I made my way over to the podium. My ears turned deaf to the voices calling out to me, my feet wouldn't stop until I reached the podium, where he stood.

"What do you think you're-"

Any string of reasoning exuded me, Ralph had taken over, and for the first time, I was acting out, purely on my instincts. I grabbed a hold of his wrist, and stood in front of the mic, feeling a rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins.

Everyone's gaze naturally fell on me, and what I would say next, naturally, they all started to talk and gossip amongst each other.

—"Isn't that Alpha Davien? I hear he's the only one who had to fight for his position."

—"What does he think he's doing? Holding another man's hand in public?"

—"In front of his own Fiance?!"

"Omegas are weak you say? So Alphas naturally have the right to walk over them? Anyone who believes that has no business calling themselves an Alpha! And I'll be damned if I'm going to stand by and listen to you half-baked Alphas point fingers at my mate!" I pulled him to my side and wrapped my free hand around his shoulder.

"An Omega isn't weak, and I swear by my family's honor, that I will do everything in my power, to make an era where Omegas will never be looked down on!" I snapped at them, meaning every single fucking word.
