Eevee vs Torchic

Jun was surprised that the Torchic had Elite potential and had already activated its hidden ability. He imagined the Torchic in front of him evolving into its final form, Blaziken. With its handsome and powerful appearance, coupled with [Acceleration] hidden ability and sword dance that can gradually boost it's speed and attack power, this Torchic is already on its way to becoming a future powerhouse!

Most species of Pokemon have three abilities: two normal abilities and one hidden ability. Some species of Pokemon have multiple possible abilities, while others only have one. In wild Pokemon encounters, it is rare for the Pokemon to have more than one ability, especially a hidden ability. Typically, wild Pokemon will only have one type of ability.

There are two ways to obtain a Pokemon with a hidden ability. The first way is through breeding. If a Pokemon with a hidden ability is bred, there is a chance that its offspring may inherit the same ability. The second way is to unlock the hidden ability naturally, a method that only Jun can do since he has the ability to see the data panel of the Pokemon he encounters.

In technical terms, a Pokemon abilities may be thought of as having separate slots. The first two slots is for the active or normal one and the final slot for passive or hidden ability one. For example, Eevee had two normal abilities — first [Run Away] and second [Adaptability] with it's hidden ability is [Anticipation].

Jun crouched in front of Eevee and whispered, "Eevee, this is your first fight, and I will only instruct you to attack, not defend or evade your opponent's attacks. You will need to do that yourself. Remember, if you feel like you are in danger, use your fur, skin, and sense of smell to determine the level of danger and where it's coming from. Understand?"

"'Kyuu~?' Eevee was confused but nodded slightly. 'Let's just do it practically since the owner already said so,' Eevee thought.

If Jun wants to unlock Eevee's hidden ability, [Anticipation], he needs to hone Eevee's sensing ability to the limit and ensure that Eevee becomes accustomed to it. Jun suspects that Eevee's hereditary move, "Detect," is related to its hidden ability. However, he is still not sure since Eevee is still in its infancy, so Jun hopes that with the correct guidance and training, his conjecture will prove to be correct.

"Chirp! Chirp!" Torchic happily swung its wings as it eagerly waited for Eevee. As its owner was a gym leader, Torchic was accustomed to watching its senior Pokemon fight each other. Torchic knew that since it had already seen Eevee, its chance to battle had finally arrived!

Grandpa Dennis then come the middle of the field to become a referee. "Are you both ready? Get ready to fight!"

"Torchic, tackle!"

"Chirp!"

Torchic charges towards Eevee with great force, lowering its head and using its body as a weapon to slam into Eevee.

Jun was silent and looking at Eevee, although a little bit worried, he believed in Eevee.

Eevee, waiting for Jun's instruction, got confused. 'Why is my owner still silent?' However, not long after that, Eevee's fur stood on its own, sensing danger coming in front. Eevee subconsciously jumped to dodge the attack making Jun nodded at this. His guess is correct basically. His Eevee hereditary move has a correlation with it's hidden ability.

After seeing that it missed its target, Torchic became determined to land a hit on Eevee. It continued to charge at Eevee, using tackle after tackle. Despite Torchic's persistent attacks, Eevee's quick reflexes and agility allowed it to dodge each attack with ease. Torchic grew increasingly frustrated with each miss, but it refused to give up easily.

After the two little Pokemon showing a tired appearence, Jun know this is the time to end this.

"Eevee come back here" This is the first time Jun said a word after a long battle.

"Torchic come here" Father Leonard also instruct the panted Torchic.

"Kyuu~!"

"Chrip~!"

Torchic looking at Eevee with fire in it's eyes and vowed to take a revenge later. Eevee also looking and Torchic with fighting spirit.

"Torchic, Ember"

"Eevee, Jump and use tail whip"

Torchic takes a deep breath and its beak becomes engulfed in flames. It then exhales a stream of fiery breath, which is directed towards Eevee. The flames travel at a high speed, leaving a trail of sparks in their wake.

Eevee jump to avoided the flame and wagged it's tail in the midair making Torchic who look at it mezmerized by it's tail. Soon, after Torchic lowered it's defense, "Eevee, double kick!"

"Kyuuu~kyu!"

Eevee whose in the air suddenly spun and kick Torchic with one of his feet, then flips around and kicks the it with his other foot.

*BANG*BANG*

Soon Torchic was thrown and collapse on the ground with it's eyes swirled.

"Torchic has lost its combat ability and cannot continue the fight. Challenger Jun and Eevee have won!" announced Grandpa Dennis, causing Eevee to jump out happily.

Soon under the eyes of Jun, he noticed that above Eevee's head, a series of numbers appeared: "+20 exp, +20 exp, +20 exp" and this sequence repeated more than ten times. After it repeated for ten times, Eevee began to glowed slightly before suddenly, the words "+ level up" appeared consecutively four times above its head.

Jun was startled. He soon check Eevee data panel.

Jun was surprised by this. He saw many changes in Eevee's information. The Detect hereditary move was removed, he guessed it must be because of the [Anticipation] hidden ability.

Seeing this, he already had some conjectures. If the mechanism of this system was like the mechanics of the Pokemon he knew, then there was a possibility that Eevee's moves in the future would be removed and replaced with new ones according to its level and development. But he needed to confirm this first.

'And also that Level up! So that's how it works,' Jun thought to himself. This was the first time he had encountered a system that could appraise Pokemon in this world, and he didn't know much about it other than its ability to provide him with information about a Pokemon's statistics and it's breeding scheme. But now he know the other function of it.
