Helping Hand

Since Lux decided to help Nia and the others obtain a good score on the test, he was going to keep pushing them to kill all kinds of monsters he was going to throw at them.

Twelve hours quickly passed, and Lux managed to gather over 16 Proto Level monsters to be sacrificed for a noble cause.

"Don't blame me, buddies. Who asked you to be such weaklings?" Snickering a bit in his mind, Lux decided to take a break.

It was already too much for Nia and the others to keep doing it; since he didn't want to make it too obvious, Lux only slightly weakened the monsters, this was for keeping appearances.

He didn't want them to suspect a single thing as to who or why someone helped them.

So after making some preparations behind everyone's back, Lux decided to act.

"I think they have enough points to be in the lead. Xia is also handling herself well; I won't be surprised if she even manages to catch up to them."

Wearing a smile on his face, Lux decided to set up some alarms and go to sleep.

His "alarms" were actually pretty simple. He was going to design a square-shaped area where Nia and the others were, before using his Light Affinity to create invisible wires that would announce him if someone entered or exited the area.

"Since there is only one Proto Class monster there, and a few low-leveled ones, Nia and the others should be able to kill them before moving to another area."

Thinking so, Lux found a huge tree with thick branches and secured a spot for himself to sleep.

His quota for the day was done, so why stay awake and watch as the time slowly passed?

After a few hours, it was close to the twenty-four-hour mark; this meant that over half of the test was completed.

"The others would need around three hours to get back to the Portal entrance, so this means there are only about twenty hours left before the race's winner would be determined."

"I wonder if the other students of the Scientific branch managed to finish their tasks... Well, not like I care too much about them."

Shrugging his shoulders, Lux stretched for a while before going to explore the Portal.

Transforming into a beam of light, he didn't make any noise as he moved forward. Not even the Instructors like Alexander Leone managed to catch a glimpse of him due to the astonishing speed he was traveling at.

A few minutes later, Lux was surprised to see that the Portal was smaller than he thought it to be.

The others that he explored in the past were all around 100,000 kilometers, this one having only 10% of that. It was the first time he encountered something like this.

"No... It happened before. In the Portal where the dragons came from." Suddenly, a sigh resounded from Lux.

He remembered the two holes that he saw, one depicting dragons, and the other monkeys. If his conjecture was right, then it was quite bad.

Since it meant that there was a possibility for this Portal to have a connection with those two giant races.

"I should ask Khione when I go back. Should I eliminate the monsters inside the Portal, or keep them around for some time so humanity could profit from it a little?"

Just like a divine being, Lux was pondering the life and death of an entire Portal that could possibly hold the life of millions of monsters.

If one destroyed all life inside a Portal and then exited, the Portal would collapse.

At the same time, if life inside a Portal grew to a certain amount, a Portal Break would happen; this meant that the monsters inside could freely enter Earth, just like with the dragons a few months ago.

'Wait... What if the amount doesn't matter, but the 'quality' of life?' As if enlightened, Lux stood in the same place for some minutes, pondering the possibility of what he thought might be the truth.

And in the end, he reached a result; that it was very possible.

"Oh man... This means more work for me to do. Maybe I should task Shadow and the others with some fun activity... They always complain that I'm the one doing everything."

Smiling as he thought of this, Lux used his senses to try and feel any disturbance that could be found.

Luckily for his lazy personality, there was none.

However, this didn't mean that he didn't find anything interesting going on, 'That's Instructor Blaire. I wonder, how did she end up in that embarrassing position?'

Feeling a bit amused by the situation, Lux decided to give her a helping hand.

It wasn't because he felt pity on her, but because he once happened to be in the exact same situation as her.

With a few monsters chasing after him, like playing hide and seek.

Since Blaire was in the Top 200 Ability Users, it was quite comedic to think that she may one day be chased by some monsters all over the place.

"Well, it's not like it's her fault for encountering the strongest bunch around." Shaking his head, Lux decided to coat himself in a golden armor, thus becoming his other persona, the Light King.

The monsters chasing after Blaire were three Disaster Class like herself, and unfortunately, a Catastrophe Class, which was a level higher.

Proto, Sky, Disaster, Catastrophe, and Apocalypse. These were the determined grades of the monsters that humanity faced until now.

That's also why they created their Rankings.

The Proto Class monsters were usually comparable to people that entered the top 1000, Sky Class monsters were around top 250-750, while Disaster Class was an entirely different grade, comparable to humans in the top 50-250.

But even then, they couldn't compare to Catastrophe Class monsters. They were the cream of the crop and treated with the utmost importance by everyone.

Catastrophe, just like their name mentioned, referred to their huge power that could create mayhem everywhere in the world.

And they could only be contained by a small number of humans, around 50 or so by Lux's estimations; since not everyone wanted a SkyLimit bracelet to have all their information stored in the System, there were probably a few strong people out there that didn't wish to be known.

As for Apocalypse Class monsters... There weren't probably more than ten or fifteen people capable of winning against them.

For the record, the eleven dragons that appeared, the ones Lux fought, were above the Apocalypse Class; the reason why every power and faction out there wanted to unite their forces before striking.

But since Lux stepped in, there was no reason for them to do that anymore.

A named Class wasn't given to them yet, but Lux had a name for it, Demi-God Class.
