Chapter 41

"Jace!" Linus called when Jace picked up.

"What?" Jace replied coolly. He was on the rooftop, watching students below, and Itzy had left about 10 minutes ago.

"Where are you? I'm with Laszlo and Ryker; we have an emergency!" Linus said urgently, sounding really serious.

Jace stood up straight and got serious too. He wanted to think Linus was joking, but he couldn't hear any joking in his voice. He hoped Linus wasn't messing around.

"What's up? Seriously, Linus, if this is some prank to freak me out, I'll be seriously mad and put a bullet in your skull," Jace threatened.

Linus gulped at Jace's response. He knew when Jace made a threat, he meant it. So even though he wasn't joking, he still couldn't help but feel worried. Jace earned his reputation as the top guy on their team for a reason.
