I knocked lightly on the door of Lauren's bungalow, a hint of nervousness bubbling up inside me. The prospect of spending time with my daughter outside of the resort walls shouldn’t feel so nerve-wracking, but we had never been close even before our falling out. However, I was determined to fix that.
I smiled at the sea shell wreath hanging from the door, it looked as though she had made it herself. I was really impressed with how creative she was.
When Lauren opened the door, her surprise was evident, but she greeted me with a warm smile, her eyes bright with curiosity.
“Hey Dad,” Lauren said.
“Hey, I was just wondering if you were busy for the day?” I asked.
“Oh, do you need me to watch the twins for you?” Lauren asked, and I instantly felt a little guilty.
“No, no. I just wondered if we could spend some time together today. I thought we could walk down to the village and have some lunch,” I explained.
