Revenge Is Lit (II)

"You really don't know who Nullifier is?" Jun asked me with an incredulous look on his face, completely forgetting the fact that he was trying to stop me from reaching the first floor only moments ago. To be honest, I did not like the look on his face… It was highly insulting. So, what if I didn't know about some washed heroine, who was toiling herself away in some no-name druggies-infested club?

"Does it really matter?" I asked as I narrowed my eyes on him. I will be honest, Mimi was going to be troublesome, considering she could cancel my punches, but I had no idea if her Quirk was simply limited to physical attacks or more… Jun was also someone troublesome to deal with. Still, I already had an idea how to deal with him. If nothing else, I could simply set everything around him on fire and even if he could dodge the flames, the heat would take care of him.

I wonder if I could deal with Mimi in the same way, otherwise, she was going to be a real pain in the ass in my path of revenge…

Mimi opened her mouth to say something, before quickly closing her mouth with a snap and shaking her head. "No, I don't think it does. The thing is, I can cancel any kind of kinetic energy with just a touch, so there is no way you are going to be able to move me from here, so why don't you drop this crusade and walk away?" Mimi suggested calmly, but there was a hint of certainness and determination in her voice.

"I am sure that Ito will be able to come up with something to smoothen things over. What do you think?" Mimi added with a grin after a moment and that was when I heard some noise from the backend of the club. I tried to purse my lips in displeasure, but it was kind of hard in my current form… I was already expecting them to try something like this. It was obvious that they would try to buy time for Ito to get away in case Mimi failed to stop me.

After all, without Ito, they would be on the streets too, but now that it has come to this… I decided to stop holding back. I have given them enough chances to walk away and considering Mimi was someone important or famous in the past, she could have come up with something to help herself and the others, but she didn't…

For a moment, I wondered if I should warn them for the last time, but I quickly gave up on the idea… They made their choice, now they needed to face the consequences…

So, I took a deep breath and both of their eyes grew wide in horror… Maybe, I needed to come up with a way to use my flames without taking a deep breath. Taking a deep breath was a telltale sign of what was about to happen. Jun cursed loudly as he let go of me and tried to jump away, but it was already too late for him as my flames engulfed everything around him. His form blurred for a moment before he howled in pain and his form stopped blurring.

Moments later, he was completely engulfed in the flames. I didn't like killing him, but it had to be done, so now that one of the annoyances was dealt with, I turned to look at Mimi. The woman was completely unharmed, but she was staring at me with clear hatred in her eyes… The look in her eyes promised murder and pain… Welp, now I know that she was not a Hero. However, there was a glint of helplessness in her eyes.

Mimi could cancel any kind of kinetic energy, at least that was what she said and considering my flames were a form of kinetic energy, she was able to cancel the flames as soon as they came in contact with her. I knew that the chances of my flames working on her were pretty low, but I had hoped that the heat from my flames could get her considering heat was thermal energy. However, thermal energy was still a form of kinetic energy, so she was able to cancel the heat too as soon as it came in contact with her.

However, I think she might have lied a bit about her powers… She didn't need to use touch to use her powers, in fact, her Quirk had a range. An extremely short range, but still a range…

"Well, looks like my only half worked" I grimaced before I decided to bolt down the burning stairs. With her blocking the stairs, there was no way I was going over to the other side, but just like Jun, she lacked the ability to harm me. So, as long as she was not standing in front of me, she was no threat to me and I don't think she was fast enough to catch up to me when I was running. Now, I needed to track Ito in this fucking city!

What a fucking mess! It was supposed to be a simple tale of revenge, but now it was a hectic mess…

As soon as I reached down the stairs, I dashed toward the kitchen as it would take way too much of my time to go around the front. There were two guys in the kitchen, but watching me charge toward them, they smartly moved out of the way… I burst out of the back and decided to run down the alley. If I heard right then Ito should have gone down this way… However, as soon as I turned the corner, I came to a screeching halt.

Ito was right there, resting against the wall while holding on to his chest, but my eyes were not focused on him, instead, I was staring at the man standing over him… The man looked like a model, but I don't think he was a model, considering was carrying a katana…

"Are you from Golden Hand?" I asked as I started to get ready for a fight.

The man snorted in derision. "I am not one of those dogs" The man answered simply.

"...Then who are you?" I asked with a frown, not sure if I trusted him.

"I am just a messenger… Lady Ujir wants to meet you" The man answered and I had no idea who this Lady Ujir was, but she sounded important.

"And what if I don't?" After last night, there was no way I was willing to play ball with any of them.

"Well, then you are free to walk away…" The man shrugged with a bored look on his face.

Wait? Just like that? "What of him?" I asked as I glanced toward Ito, who whimpered when my gaze landed on him.

"You can have him. Think of him as a gift from Lady Ujir as a form of goodwill" The man explained magnanimously and I had to admit, it was a nice show of goodwill. I was never averse to working with someone or under someone, but they needed to do it the right way. I had made a mistake with Rikiya… I was too quick to refuse his offer and now I had nothing. I had no idea what this Lady Ujir wanted from me or if I was walking into a trap, but what other choice did I have?

I could walk away after killing Ito, but I would be out on the streets, looking for the next opportunity to earn some money with the Golden Hand on my ass. Now, this Lady Ujir could be a part of this Golden Hand, but it was highly unlikely, considering the man in front of me wasn't a fan of them… "You do have a car right?" I asked him, earning a nod from him. However, this time, I wasn't planning to lower my guard.

I was not going to drop out of my current form… It would be hard to keep it up considering I hadn't rested for even a bit since yesterday and my Quirk had to work overtime to keep me alive since yesterday, but I had to make it do…
