Standing on the podium, Kiryuu Yuzuki greeted the others in front of her with a smile.
"Morning all. Before we begin, there is an important message that Sensei must convey to you. Since yesterday, Himeji Mizuki from class 1-B has not returned home and has been declared missing. With this incident, there were already two students from this school missing. When you go home, don't walk alone just in case."
News wanted to shock everyone in the classroom.
"Is lost? Possible kidnapping?"
This was the first time Akira had heard this news, after all he had been absent for two weeks and only started school today.
"Bocchi, Sensei said there are two people missing, who is the other one?"
"That person is Aharen-san from our class."
Hitori spoke in a low voice so as not to disturb her.
"No wonder I didn't see her earlier."
Akira looked at the empty chair by the front door.
As a classmate, he of course knew Aharen Eru, one of the famous Big Three in the batch of 1st year students. However, the relationship between the two was limited to being classmates and Akira hardly ever talked to her.
Secretly playing with his cellphone in the desk drawer, he then asked Chamber to find information on missing persons that had recently occurred in Tokyo.
The next moment, he discovered that there had been about 30 cases of people disappearing in just two weeks.
"There are so many! And the missing people are girls, their age range is 13–15 years… Wow, Tokyo is so unsafe."
Japan is considered one of the safest countries in the world, but it looks like they're just giving up that title.
"Akira, put your phone away."
Hearing someone say his name, Akira raised his head and saw Shouko standing on the podium, while Teacher Yuzuki sat on a chair and watched.
"I'm sorry."
Even though he didn't know why Shouko was there, Akira obediently put his cell phone in the desk drawer.
"No one is playing on the phone during class time."
Shouko looked to warn everyone, but her eyes were fixed on Akira.
(She's still upset because of the previous incident.)
Akira smiled wryly, and watched her write Sports Festival on the blackboard.
"We will determine the participants who will participate in each competition, so if you are confident enough, please submit yourself to take part in the competition."
As the coordinator of the Sports Festival, Shouko prepares a list of students who will be participating in the competition and hands it over to Teacher Yuzuki. Then, she wrote each branch of the sports competition on the blackboard.
"Sports Festival, huh... Looks like it's about time."
Resting his chin on his hand, Akira contemplated participating in any competition. He was confident enough to enter the competition.
The Sports Festival is one of the important events in Japanese schools, and lasts for two days.
After writing on the blackboard, Shouko faced her classmate and asked in a calm tone.
"Who wants to be a participant in the 100 meter race?"
"Let me! I am confident in my running speed."
The first person to raise their hand was Kise.
"Then Kise-kun will take part in the 100 meter sprint competition."
Shouko wrote Kise's name on the paper. Then, she asked for another competition and the students submitted one after another. Of course there were some students who didn't take part in any competitions, for example, Hitori.
Sitting in the very back seat, Akira stared at the competition he was participating in and at Shouko helplessly.
"Item search competition, 600 meter relay, triple sprint, basketball… She's targeting me on purpose."
Normally students would only participate in one or two competitions, but due to Shouko's intervention, Akira has to participate in four individual competitions at once!
"Etto... Kirishima-san, isn't Nakano-san participating in too many competitions?"
Teacher Yuzuki questions Shouko's decision.
"Kiryu Sensei misunderstood, the reason I chose Akira was for our class to become the overall champion. He will win every competition he enters."
"I'm really honored that Shouko trusted me so much, I won't let you down."
What else can Akira do? He could only accept Shouko's arrangement.
"Kiryu Sensei, here is the participant list."
Shouko still stared at Akira coldly, handed her a paper with the list of students participating in the competition at the Sports Festival, and sat down to her seat.
Teacher Yuzuki got up, stood in front of the podium, and said: "Don't forget to invite your parents to come to watch and celebrate the Sports Festival."
Delivering a few reminders, she started teaching.
...
*Ding Dong*
The sound of the recess bell echoed throughout the school. The physics teacher tidied up her books and left.
Akira stretched his hand up, and then Shouko came to him.
"I have something to ask you, let's change places."
"Before that, could you leave the stun gun in your pocket?"
Akira's eyes twitched seeing Shouko who was hiding a stun gun in her blazer.
"No way, depending on Akira's answer, I need it." Shouko refused without hesitation.
Akira felt a headache, and finally let her go.
"Whatever, you can never hit me anyway."
"..."
Shouko couldn't argue, because it was true. She had tried to stun Akira many times with the stun gun, but he always dodged it easily.
"Okay, I know a suitable quiet place."
Akira got up, but he didn't head for the door, and instead approached Mahiru, who had been watching them since the teacher left.
"Mahiru also wants to tag along, right?" He asked.
"Is it allowed?"
Mahiru glanced at Shouko as if asking her permission.
"If it's Mahiru-san… It's fine."
With her possessive nature, Shouku had made big concessions to let Mahiru. If it had been her previous self, she would have never agreed.
"Thank you very much, Shouko-san."
The relationship between the two girls was so close that they called each other by their first names.
The three of them left the classroom together carrying lunch.
The other classmates had gotten used to their close relationship, and didn't question where they were going.
Walking down the corridor, Akira walked in the middle, on his left was Shouko and on his right was Mahiru.
A man was accompanied by two beautiful girls at the same time, and the male students who didn't recognize Akira looked at him with envy in their eyes.
Akira could even hear their swearing. He could already accept this kind of treatment and didn't think much of it.
"Are we going to the roof?"
Climbing the stairs, Mahiru guessed where they were going.
"Yeah, it's a suitable place to talk without worrying about being overheard by others."
Akira answered casually without the tension of someone who was about to be interrogated.
"The roof of one of the places where students are prohibited from entering, and the door is locked." Shouko said.
Unlike in the anime, students can go up to the roof as they please to have lunch, relax, or secretly have sex. In the real world this is not the case, in order to avoid suicide which would damage the school's reputation. Therefore, the roof is a place that students are not allowed to go.
"I have my own way of opening doors." Akira replied casually.
Miharu and Shouko looked at each other doubtfully, but didn't ask.
As Akira said, he opened the door easily.
A gust of wind blew the skirts, and the two girls held their skirts down and showed their panties.
"Nice place, right? The wind feels cool."
Spreading his arms, Akira enjoyed the natural breeze.
Seeing how relaxed and calm she was, Shouko couldn't hold back her doubts and finally asked.
"Akira, what did you mean by this morning?"
"I want to know too." Miharu spoke softly, but there was a firmness in her eyes.
