Chapter 40: Back to Deadwood

Friday after classes, Liz and I packed to go back to Deadwood for the weekend. Liz got caught in the hall by another friend, so I told her I’d meet her at the car and thank God I had. There was another not-so-friendly letter on the windshield of my car.

“What is that?”

I gasped and spun around in shock. Of course, it was Silas. “God damn it. Didn’t your aunt ever teach you not to sneak up on people like that!” I hissed and swatted him.

Silas smirked. “Nah, sneaking up on people and scaring them is her favorite pastime.”

“Well, at least I know where you get it from,” I muttered.

Silas swiped the paper from my hand during my momentary distraction.

“What the—ugh! What are you doing? I didn’t even get to read it!”

“I told you that I would deal with it. Where are you going?”

“I don’t see how that’s any of your damn business anymore,” I spat.

“How is it not?”

“You made it not your business when you dumped me,” I said.
