Echoes of Allegiance

A horn was sounded as tens of thousands of soldiers suddenly charged forward, causing great confusion and fear to spread in the enemy camp as they stared in disbelief.

What had happened?

Why were the rebels suddenly charging at them, attacking so suddenly?

"Alas, it has to be like this," Lyle said as he walked forward with his commanders who all nodded their heads with solemn expressions.

Suddenly, they all burst forward at full speed, including Lyle.

He broke through the enemy ranks, reaching their arrays immediately together with the rest before they started moving their hands around, causing the arrays to shake before dissipating.

The formations didn't fare much better as the rebels seemingly knew where all of them were, and thus they were quickly dealt with as well.
