SAFE HOUSE
POV DESMOND
I fell asleep shortly after Nathaniel left. I had tried to stay up and make myself useful, but Samuel and Dean pushed me out. I made sure all the curtains were tightly drawn before I laid down. It felt like only ten minutes had gone by when Nathaniel came and laid down next to me.
"Shhh," he whispered, "go back to sleep, I just wanted to be next to you."
I rubbed my eyes and sat up, "It's ok, I wasn't having the best sleep anyways. How did it go?" Nathaniel pulled me toward him, and I lay on his chest as he leaned against the wall. It was almost like he had never left.
"The shifters still want to stick to their original plan," he sighed.
"Is that a bad thing?" I asked.
"They want to attack during the day, but the entire operation is underground. Thomas made sure that no matter what no sunlight would be able to reach down there," he explained. "They would also be in direct contact with the drug, which just adds a layer of danger."
