Chapter 34: Rebels

Salvatore POV

“A duel?”

I sensed his presence immediately after he entered the enchanted forest. I watched him gaze at the stars and pace around the forest in restlessness. I don’t know what made me do it. One minute I was talking to Tristan and communicating with him through the mind link and the next instance I had moved with speed and kissed my mate with all my breath.

I could feel his heart pounding in his chest as I focused on the kiss and the way my body felt next to him. I felt him pull me closer and my brain froze for a moment. I knew I was possessive but not in this uncontrolled way. I wanted to kill whoever challenged my mate. The kiss deepened as I pressed closer. He growled into the kiss and this made my body shudder. I pulled my lips away and looked into his burning eyes.

"Why the f*ck did you–"
