5.4 Of Dogs and Discomfort

Lucian strolled back to his study as Seraphina lay in bed. Once inside, he closed the door behind him and took a seat, finding Cass still unmoved. Lucian scrutinized him with narrowed eyes.

Cass raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

Lucian inquired, "Did you grasp what unfolded between Seraphina and Morgana?"

"I had a sense. Our powers complement each other. I could feel her love for magic, juxtaposed with insecurities fueled by Morgana's remarks."

Lucian nodded and continued, "If you're here to alter the course of events, it means you're aware of who will cast a shadow on the Everything."

Cass shook his head. "I don't. Priestess Lumiya sent me, stating she decided to offer you all a chance. My task is to uncover the perpetrator. I only know the events, not the path you took to get there."

Lucian silently stared at him before sneering, "How do you plan to achieve that in the form of a dog?"
