Alex wasn't surprised that he didn't acquire the ice element from the legiana since he had already assumed that gaining more elements becomes much harder the more he already possessed. Simply having a resistance to those elements would serve him just fine though since he would be patching up his own weaknesses. he didn't have the lightning element so he didn't really have to worry about taking extra damage from ice type attacks anyways but there's nothing wrong with preparing for the future. Alex of course checked on Zain and the handler before he went exploring but from his vantage point he could see the wanderer chick carrying them off already.

Once he was sure the story was still on track Alex went off into the coral highlands in order to see what juicy traits he might find here to increase his power. There was one rather irritating problem for him however as he flew overhead , everything looked the fucking same. Even with his full attention scanning the area below him Alex's mind had this horrible habit of merging everything together since everything had a roughly similar color scheme. Red , blue , tan and white filled every spot in the coral highlands in various shades making precision very hard to accomplish.

Sure Alex still managed to catch a few shamos and floating jellyfish things as he flew over head but it quickly became clear that this method was terribly inefficient. The shamos's gave him two traits normally from the few he had already eaten [sharp claws] which he already had and [enhanced vision] which he did not. Neither trait surprised him at all since he was already aware of the existence of one of them from the game while the other was heavily implied due to the size of the species eyes.

The requirements for the [enhanced vision] were easy since it was merely a common ranked trait that merely needed him to eat twenty five of the shamos. He completed this within an hour since there was an overabundance of the things. The trait fused with his [telescopic vision] and [night vision] to create the rare ranked [eagle vision] trait. This new fused trait made it much easier to tell things apart from the air but that was still quite an inefficient method of searching. In the end Alex took to walking along the pathways and walls of the coral highlands "ground" letting him find several new things.

The first was the voluminous oysters that created unique giant pearls that glowed brightly. From these things he merely got some repeats of the [armored scales] trait that he already had. The second thing he discovered was the super abalone that was found in the game but these gave him the [layered horns] trait. It was an uncommon trait so the requirement was a good bit higher than a common one in needing him to eat fifty of the abalones. The third thing he discovered was a bit problematic however as it was the lynian tribe of the biome.

Despite his very intimidating personage the tribe was carrying massive amounts of courage as they had actually attacked him. Thanks to his defenses none of their attacks actually hurt Alex but that didn't mean that his patience wasn't quickly being burned away. 'FUCK OFF ALREADY!' he yelled into their heads before roaring at the group angrily. This did the trick for the bunch of them because to their horror they realized an elder dragon had just spoken , albeit indirectly. If he was just a normal monster his anger would have only made them bolder but an actually intelligent creature reacts very differently when angered.

The tribe wasn't stupid enough to keep antagonizing an intelligent elder who had basically been very generous with their badgering all things considered. The biggest problem however was that the roar Alex had let out was heard throughout this part of the coral highlands , including the thirds research base. It was not very surprising that this unknown roar had set the entire fleet in the area on edge because the reactions of the wildlife showed that it came from something powerful and at the end of it's patience.
