Guardian of Falmuth

Galahad scratched his cheek while looking at the King who was now sitting on the throne, "Soo?" he asked him after all there were only two situations he could think up off, either this is a publicity stunt for the nobles or an offer for him. "State you reason for visiting us, Hero?" the King asked putting extra emphasis on the word Hero while staring down the nobles who flinched. Galahad lazily answered, "I wanted.....a place to stay and that's about it." while this may come off ass arrogant, it was the truth lying right now wasn't beneficial anyway. "I see! So our kingdom is a good place to stay? Your words honor me!" The king said heartily laughing at Galahad's reasoning. Galahad's eye twitched, shouldn't this old man dial it down a bit?

The King raised his finger as if he had an idea and said, "I see! Why don't you become our guardian? I am certainly in favor of that." with this their Kingdom would have the sort of protection that'd make anyone even a Demon Lord think twice about attacking them. Galahad's lips slightly curled up, "You shouldn't be..... giving away that title that easily" he said, Guardian meant he'd be in a similar position to Velgrynd in the Empire, who had enough power to mobilize their armies if she so desired, and also have a say in the coronation of a new Emperor. But, he certainly had to commend this King's guts after all with his personality there was a hundred percent guarantee that he wouldn't do something like that ever and the King had seen through that perfectly, but still it was a bit too much trust, while the terms of their contract may not necessarily be the same it would still be something along those lines.

"Besides I'm not strong enough ...for that role." Galahad explained while sighing, Velgrynd was a damn True Dragon! He was quite weak compared to her, he was pretty sure he'd lose to any of the current Demon Lords if it wasn't for his absolute defense. "Surely you jest! Someone capable of stopping monsters such as the Demon Lords is not weak by any means!" The King said insisting on it much to the dismay of the nobles. One of them shouted, "But my King!" but he was cut off, "We are in the presence of guests!" he was the King while the nobles hold power the final decision is always made by the King himself and he would have no objection on this matter.

Galahad yawned and looked at the King while in thought, if he accepted this it basically granted him a place to stay comfortably and quite a bit of power as well not that he needed it but who knows as well as complete freedom of movement because of that power among many others, the only downside would be him having to occasionally fight wars on their behalf and that was it, the pros outweighed the cons and making his decision he nodded, "If you're okay with me then...I'll do it." This made the King smile widely after all it was what he wanted! But his next words were a bit surprising, "But.....only for the next 500 years. A good deal, no?" He figured since he would be here a long time anyway this would allow him to comfortably laze around until the First Tenma War and also witness the birth of the Second Generation Demon Lords.

The King contemplated his words, "Why 500 years?" he wanted him to be the guardian for more than that but don't misunderstand he was very grateful 500 years was a long period of time for humans, while Galahad was still somewhat human but he wasn't a normal one rather he was a higher one he wouldn't die from old age. "I mean.....that's enough time for your kids to have kids then them to have kids and then even them to have kids...you get the idea." Galahad replied sitting down on the ground, not bowing just sitting while yawning. One of the Nobles shouted, "Show some respect!" he was in the presence of the King! Galahad gave him a glance and ignored him, he wasn't a Chinese Protagonist, he was above this stuff! He chuckled at his own thoughts, he was just too lazy for it.

The King nodded at him, "I see, so what do you want in exchange?" he asked curiously, knowing Galahad it probably wouldn't be something outrageous he was taking a risk making him the guardian, "The right to participate.....and if I feel like it veto any decisions made there." he said smiling, if the King wanted to play a game of wits then he could too, while it isn't much when compared to other demands with this he could just deny a war when they wanted him to fight and laze around giving him complete political freedom, and stop any invasions from their side. The King smiled, this guy was indeed intelligent just that he rarely showed it. "Quite a big demand!" he said smiling widely while the nobles discussed this demand among themselves, to them it didn't appear to be much, however the General standing there gave them a wry smile and strangely looked at Galahad strong people were more often than not completely brawns over brains so this was a pleasant surprise, looked like this hero wasn't so simple after all.

The King contemplated it, survival trumps conquest and nodded, "Very well! I shall grant your request in exchange you are to play the role of a guardian!" he said loud enough for everyone to hear, the nobles were happy to hear about getting such a strong defender. "I, King Curtis the First, hereby declare the Hero Galahad Guardian to our glorious Kingdom, The Kingdom of Falmuth! May he pave the path to further prosperity!" he said in a loud commanding voice that left no room for argument. Galahad lazily glanced at the two behind him that had been calmly observing everyone here, they gave him nods they would go with anything he decided, no objections. Galahad realized that he didn't even know the guy's name yet and just learnt it, he gave a dry laugh. Curtis came down from his throne as Galahad stood up and both of them firmly shook hands finalizing their agreement while some may argue if he was lazy he could just sleep in a cave, why would you sleep in a cave when you can do the same thing in a mansion? This automatically granted him the status of a noble for the duration of 500 years.

The nobles started clapping in joy, not realizing that Galahad and the King had technically played them as this would stop them from using Galahad to fulfill their greedy desires, and that they may indeed end up getting removed because he was a Guardian against both External and Internal enemies. The King raised his hands to the sides, "Let us hold a party to commemorate this day!" and heartily patted Galahad's back before walking away in order to make preparations for the party.

Galahad slightly nodded and turned around to walk away with Vert and Bleu behind him, their beauty had attracted some eyes that wished them harm but they didn't have the nerve to move against someone like him, this was one of the advantages of not trying to hide his powers. The rest of the day he just hung around at the castle and talking with the nobles as well as Vert and Bleu, and as he suspected they were mostly rotten but there were a few good people there. In order to get as much time to laze around, he needed to know if the people around him would be hindrances or not. Conclusion? They were not. None of them had the guts, he also surmised that he faced no threat of assassination because his maids were a walking arsenal of nukes, them being beaten was stupid unless it was another Primordial, a Demon Lord or one of the Seraphim.

A few hours later, the palace was very lively with guests from all around here, famous merchants, Land lords and the like were here with their spouses or alone. The place clearly looked like it was in a festive mood, even the civilian areas had fireworks going on the people were happy with getting a Hero as their guardian. However, the time limit had not been disclosed to the populace because of several reasons which Galahad couldn't bother investigating. He was currently wearing a tuxedo giving him a regal image, which was ruined by him yawning or dozing off every fifteen minutes.

The party went on quite well, with many people approaching Galahad to curry favor with him not realizing that he was someone who would most of the time always prioritize himself and only help out if he deemed it advantageous to himself whether it be long term or short term. While he had some of the male guests approach him about Vert and Bleu, all they got were cold looks and scowls making them back away, especially because of the sweat that strangely started forming after they approached him with those intentions.

While some Lords tried to show off their daughters as well hoping for him to take a fancy he wasn't a horn dog and didn't think with his second head. So he just kept up appearances and gave them some compliments off the top of his head after slightly glancing at them, strangely enough that motivated the ladies more and he just sat near the King to get them away from him and the King laughed at him for it so he grumbled and accidentally drank their strongest wine before saying it was pretty good and shrugging it off much to their shock. In the end, the Curtis tried it too and got drunk, making himself look like a retard. In the end he was escorted away by the Royal Guard and his wife, while Galahad and Bleu laughed their asses off as Vert sighed and facepalmed at them.

NEXT DAY,

Galahad looked at the lavish mansion in front of himself and whistled, "Well.....this is..amazing actually." after all he didn't think that he'd get such a mansion. It was at the edge of the city and was quite large, good thing about it was that there were civilian houses around it so he wouldn't have to bother with some rotten piece of shit first thing in the morning. "What do you guys...think?" he asked Vert and Bleu who were standing behind him. Bleu sighed, a bigger mansion means more work for her and she was a slacker while Vert nodded, "I find it somewhat lacking, considering your position and might, Master." both of them understood what a Guardian was and it was quite a high position, so she found it somewhat lacking when compared to that. Galahad scratched the back of his head, "Well it'd be difficult to live in a bigger one.....I'd have to move around too much." both of them smiled at him, they saw this coming after all they were perfectly aware of how their Master was. If it was for him then they would get used to it!

He just planned to laze around for five hundred years now, and only go out to visit the Demon Lords from time to time, he liked lazing around not isolating himself so some contact was necessary. Furthermore, the second generation Demon Lords were also a thing.
