Yet he decided to just inform her but before he could, the girl behind Isla spun Isla around, catching Isla off guard as she pinned Isla to the wall, straggling her.
Devon looked at Isla whose eyes were wide open in shock.
Isla held the girl's hands that were on her neck. The girl was stronger than any sixteen years old.
Her eyes were redder than before, her face paler with visible veins on her neck and sides of her face, they reached up to her forehead.
She tightened her grips on Isla's neck.
Isla looked at the girl with fear in her eyes, she felt like this was going to be the end of her because of how strong the girl's hold was.
Isla pushed her way from her with force that made the girl that seemed like an ice wall move back with the impact.
The girl staggered a bit but rushed over to Isla again.
She grabbed Isla's hair but Isla was quick to hold her neck and pushed her against the wall. Now their position had shifted and it looked like the table had turned.
She tugged Isla's hair backwards in a hurtful way. In a way that Isla could feel her hair being painfully pulled from her scalp. She held the girl's hands and held her stance before kneeling the girl in the stomach.
The girl released her hold as she shrieked back. She let her claws out and ventured towards Isla again.
Devon just watched the show with an unamused look. He could clearly see how Isla was trying her best to save herself. If only he could just help out but he didn't feel the urge to and for that reason he decided to sit still and enjoy the show, besides Isla looked determined to fight the girl off by herself since she wasn't asking for his help after all.
Isla was confused about what to do. She looked around the room and saw a flower vase on the dresser. She reached over to it but the girl pulled her back by the arm and pushed her on the ground.
She climbed on top of Isla and gave Isla a shocking punch that made Isla's face move with the impact. Isla grabbed the girl's shoulders and immediately pushed her off her. She kicked the girl's face before reaching for the vase again. She smashed it on the girl's head and stood up instantly.
Blood dripped down the girl's face while she let out an evil laugh.
"How dare you? you little thing," She roared, her face turned serious and scary, standing up. She pushed Isla to the wall, grabbing her neck with a tight hold.
This time her grips were like a steel on Isla's neck.
Isla could feel the blood that rushed through her body, mostly her head.
The girl's grips were so strong that a vein appeared in the middle of Isla's forehead. Her face was red, she felt suffocated.
She looked behind the girl and saw the dew water just a step away from the girl's right foot.
Devon, who had enough, kicked the water over to her. She pushed the girl and hastily leaned down to reach for the water.
She struggled to pour the water on her iron cross before placing it on the girl's head, pressing it on her forehead.
The girl screamed as the iron ate her skin like a hot rod taken from the fire and pierced through a soft skin.
Her eyes were shut tightly. Isla pushed the girl on the bed behind her and sat on her. She continued to press the cross on the girl's head while the girl shook violently on the bed.
She wailed in pain while Isla still kept her cross on the girl's forehead. The girl's face was covered with black veins as she threw her head back with a painful cry.
After a while the girl stopped moving. The veins became invisible while her body became rigid.
Isla sighed heavily before climbing off the girl. She stared blankly at the girl for a while before turning her back.
She turned only to see Devon looking at her with a blank look. He had a glint in his eyes that made her confused. She tried to decipher the meaning of the glint, however someone barged into the room.
"Isla are you okay?" Oliver said, walking to her. His eyes fell on the bed before he looked at the broken vase.
"What happened here during our absence?"
Before Isla could speak, Logan marched in but paused at the doorstep.
His eyes widened in shock "what happened here?" He asked the same question.
Isla inhaled and exhaled "well the demon was declared gone too early. I was attacked just now by her and.." she looked at the mess on the ground "it was really a lot to deal with."
"Come over here" Oliver wrapped his arm around her shoulders "the woman suggested we spend the night here and leave tomorrow"
"Oh" she nodded, letting her uncle lead her out.
Logan was left with Devon. He cleared his throat "well let me show you to your room then"
Devon waited for him to lead the way out. He took one last look at the sleeping girl.
Isla sat on the bed while Oliver passed her a cup of water.
"How are you feeling now?"
"Tired," she said exhaustedly.
"Then you must rest, dare," he came closer and tugged her in bed, trapping the quilt around her.
"Good night, my dare" he placed a soft kiss on her head before walking out.
Isla woke up earlier than expected. She just couldn't sleep in an unfamiliar place.
She walked to the window and pushed it open. It was still early, maybe four in the morning.
She decided to take a stroll around to calm herself. The event that went down yesterday still played in her mind like a movie.
Yes she acted strong and tough in front of everyone but she was equally scared as well.
Much scared than ever when the girl appeared to have a determined intention of eliminating her yesterday.
She wrapped a shawl around her body before walking out into the cold.
Isla walked around for what felt like forever. She felt calmed as the cold morning air rushed into her hot body, calming her down immediately.
"Isn't it too early for a lady to be out?" Isla heard a somehow familiar voice behind her.
She turned around only to find the man they met yesterday who expressed his hate for missionaries when they first arrived there.
She was silent with tons of suggestions of a best escape running wild in her head.
"I thought you could speak," he said, stalking to where she stood slowly.
Isla stood still. He came much closer and stared at her with a faint smile
His eyes scanned her "are you all alone?" He asked, still eyeing her.
"Well if you are then you just happened to make a big mistake," he smirked.
