After he'd bid his friends farewell, Chen met Korra at the arena's restaurant. By this time, few matches were playing. This place was empty. It would be full later for the audience to eat something. But for now, this place was perfect to talk in. No one would pay them attention, except for his teammates, who were a few tables away. Chen was aware of the glares Mira and the glances Hina were giving him. He wanted to turn and say that they aren't dating. But again, he didn't care to bother explaining.
"So, what did you want to talk about," Chen said, opening a water bottle and looking at Korra, who hadn't ordered anything.
Taking a deep breath, the Avatar lowered her head and exhaled a sigh.
"I tried to follow after Amon and arrest him on my own." She said, "I've got my hands on Chi blockers training site."
Chen stopped drinking from his water and pulled the bottle down.
"You tried to follow Amon, by yourself?" he asked, trying to confirm what he'd heard.
"Not him, but the Chi blockers." Her expression hardened. "At first, I used water to ambush them. But very soon, they surrounded me, and I was Chi blocked."
"Yeah. I have." Korra said. "Silly of me, right? Seeing how you are reacting, I can guess that you are wondering how I came back."
"You are the Avatar. You should be able to come back." Chen replied. If Korra didn't have plot armour, then he must have transmigrated into the wrong world.
"Things were easy at the beginning, but I couldn't handle a bunch of non-benders, let alone their boss. I tried to fight. But it was no use. They surrounded me and shackled me. Luckily for me, Chief Beifong was there."
"And let me guess. She scolded you for getting into a secret operation. And the reason you found out about their location is Tenzin speaking out loud through the phone. " Chen thought of Lin's reaction. He found it cute when he thought about it.
Korra's jaw dropped a bit. "How did you know?" she asked, putting her hands on his shoulders and grabbing him.
'I watched many movies that sometimes I could expect how things would happen?' Chen smiled. "You can call it a sixth sense."
He then thought for a bit. Should he ask Korra about the locations she knew about the Equalists? If he wanted to know where the anti-benders were, he would have asked Hiroshi. But he'd been planning to take down Amon on the last day of the tournament.
As for Korra, she was quite unreliable now. She was far too weak to deal with someone like Amon.
"I see." Korra took her hands back. "Anyway. While Beifong was scolding me, and Tenzin telling me that I should finish my training first, they revealed something interesting?"
"Which is?" Chen let his head closer, interested.
"You, taking a whole squad of Chi Blockers and defeating them until the final boss came and took you out in an unnatural way. Credit could be given to your lightning bending." Korra said and leaned back. "That's when I thought, I'm not ready as a Firebender and I needed more training. If there is someone to teach me how to defeat the Chi Blockers, it would be you, Chen. Avatars were never known to bend lightning. So you'll be ever known as the fire mentor to teach Avatar lightningbending. Also, can you teach me how to create that purple fire of yours?"
Chen raised his eyebrows. He took a deep breath, before reaching for his bottle and drinking the remaining water.
The peace of information, which Korra said to be interesting, appeared to be something he knew very well.
Other than that, she was asking him to train her and teach her lightning bending.
He thought of what was there for him.
'I can always knock her out with lightningbending, and I would get experience, right?' he thought, looking at Korra's pretty blue eye that matched her tanned-toned shape. 'Also training with her should give me more experience with my firebending. While Mira earned a quite good exp, it was getting less. Korra should be in another league.
'Training with her would benefit me too.'
The longer he stared into her eyes, the more her cheeks turned to red colour. When he was done with his thoughts, he could swear that Korra was blushing, while her eyes were immersed in his.
"Sure." He slowly said.
"By the way, your eyes are blue, like mine. I thought firebenders have yellow or black eyes."
"This is republic city. People from different races bang, and they bring unique children." He shrugged. Chen said the word bang casually, not giving regard that Korra grew up in a restricted constrictive place.
She blushed so hard and her jaw dropped a bit.
When he titled his head, he asked. "What?"
She turned her head, joined her indexes, and said. "Nothing, nothing at all. So when are we starting?"
"Good question." He thought for some time.
He'd already considered buying land to train at. But since Korra showed herself, he could use her to get that goal done. It's a win-win.
Korra started blinking when she saw Chen's lips curling up to a smile, a wide one.
He said. "By the way, Tenzin is a member of the council. It would happen that he can provide us with a wide land to train."
"I know." She nodded. "I'll ask him about it. Though, he would say that we should train in his temple island."
"That's bad," Chen said. "Can you tell him to help me buy one?"
"I can. There should be some lands on the side of the city, unoccupied." Korra lowered her head. She then looked at Chen with wide-open eyes.
"What?" he asked, seeing the look on her face.
"Are you willing to buy land with your own money, for me?"
So she was thinking that it was about her.
It's expected from her. First, she was a woman. Second, she was the Avatar. She would absolutely think that everything is about her and her duty.
"Yeah. Sure, I'm doing this for you. Your training is important."
"Chen, you are so sweet, guy. I don't know why I thought you aren't. Maybe because your fighting style is intimidating. But you can't judge a book —"
"I'll stop you right there." Chen extended his hand and put it on her mouth. Korra lowered her eyes to his hand, and he could sense her heat increasing.
Somehow, he felt a weird sensation coming from his hand. The middle of his palm felt wet all of the sudden. It was a sweet and erotic feeling. He realised that Korra was extending her tongue against his palm, and he immediately pulled up.
She giggled when she was what he did. It seemed that she was clueless about how a woman's tongue affects a man's skin. Especially when it came from a woman with a good body and/or pretty face.
"What? Can't handle a bit of waterbending." Korra teased.
Sighing, he said. "Save that water for Chi Blockers."
"Come on, I was just joking."
"I know." That is what made it not funny. "Anyway. I believe that we came to a deal. Let's practise.
"Alright," Korra said, a bit excited. She clenched her fists. "I'm going to electrocute those equalists."
"Yeah, yeah. Keep that excitement for later." Chen said.
When he turned his head, he saw that his teammates had already left. It was already getting late, and they'd a point.
"Yeah."
-x-X-x-
Chen stood up at the end of the arena.
"So, I have to get back. My teammates are worried about our next match, and we would train at night." Korra said.
After having more conversation, she accompanied Chen outside the ring. She had talked to him, and she seemed to have a good time talking about herself. They knew more about each other. Well, it was Chen who knew more about her. He'd just sat there and listened, not judging or saying anything, before excusing himself.
"So, will you call me or I will call you."
"I think we live in the arena, so we would meet."
"Sure." Korra nodded.
Chen looked in front of him and he smiled when he saw a car. Korra looked in his direction, and she saw a beautiful tall girl with her hand on a car wheel.
"Come on in, Chen." She said.
"Asami. You are here. That's quite surprising." Chen smiled, seeming happy. "I thought you were busy finding a day when your father wouldn't find out."
"I wanted to surprise you." Asami smiled, "Besides, I told my dad I would pick up my friend, and he let me."
Chen turned to Korra, who stared back at him.
"See you later Korra." He said, before walking and jumping to the car, landing next to Asami.
"See ya," Korra said slowly, dazed as she lifted her hand, waving her fingers.
Asami drove out, taking Chen out of Korra's sight.
"He didn't even tell me who is she?" she turned back and walked to the arena. She started muttering to herself. "Who is she? And why the hell do I want to know who is she? She pisses me off already."
