Chapter 45 - Blow the tower

Thankfully, everything went as well as it could in our situation. As soon as Indra's body hit the ground, Anya stepped forward to prevent me from killing one of the leaders of the Trikru as well as making sure that the warriors wouldn't rush to cut me down right after they recover from their shock.

"Enough! Regardless of the crime, the sky people committed today, the only one that's at fault is that boy and I will not stand idle if one of you strikes the rest of his people, especially when I know that aftermath!"

Before the grounders went to honor their dead, they had thrown us some hateful glances, after all, even though Anya wasn't the commander or the tribe leader, she was still one of the few generals loved and respected by her people, but that won't make them forget what Finn did to their people today.

When all the grounders reluctantly left us, I withdrew my foot off Indra's chest, allowing the woman to breathe properly once again. After she had got on her feet, Indra promptly turned towards Anya, demanding an explanation from her regarding the rather odd relationship between us.

"What's the meaning of this? You let our enemies walk freely in my village, only for them to make me the laughingstock of our people!"

"Watch your tone, Indra! I may not be our commander, but you know the punishment for this insubordination!"

"Then explain yourself or else, I swear on my life, that I will seize your head and present you as a traitor to our commander."

"After I had failed to kill all the sky people, I was taken prisoner by them for a few minutes, before the Mountain men took everyone prisoner and brought us inside their mountain. When I was locked up, I witness our people being slowly tortured and drained of their blood, used as living blood banks for those monsters. At long last, I managed to escape from that place with the help of one of the enemies I merely fought a few days ago. That's how I end up with them and as much as I would like to see every single one of them dead, I realized that the enemy wasn't the sky people, instead the real enemy was always the mountain men."

As Anya kept narrating her story, I could see how hard Indra tried to keep a straight face and hide any emotion as she continues to listen to how Anya and the rest of the grounders were treated inside the mountain. No matter how much she despises us, even Indra could realize the threat these people represent to both of our communities, and rather than fighting between us, we should unite, but alas, that was just my wishful thinking, since I knew that Indra would do anything in her power to make sure that Finn will pay with his life for his crime.

Two days later, two days since Finn killed the five grounders back at TonDC, two since he and Clarke found each other, and above all, two days since the grounders were keeping a close eye on us, forcing us to stay behind our fence. Ever since we came back, the grounders and the guards trigger some kind of verbal fights with some occasional fake attacks from the grounders, thankfully, until now neither side had any casualties, but as much as I would like to be wrong, that would change soon. As a result of what happened in the past few days, most of the guards were sent to patrol the area around the electric fence as well as the camp, courtesy of Abby since she was the regent chancellor until Marcus returns from where he vanished, as a way of preventing the civilians from retaliating against Finn for their current situation.

Due to what happened, Finn and Murphy were detained inside the station, waiting for their punishment. Meanwhile, I, Clarke, and Bellamy were outside discussing how we would fight against Mt. Weather, but sadly no matter how much we struggle, nothing would work against the heavily defended bunker that survived the nuclear apocalypse.

Seeing that it would be a long night for all of us again, Bellamy went over and took three drinks from Monty's stash that we managed to sneak back into the camp when we initially arrived here. We drank for a few minutes while we waited for the rest of our friends to be freed and eventually, Byrne released Finn and Murphy from the good old interrogation room, only for the two of them to find a slightly drunk Clarke crying her worries out, while at the same time I, who had to prevent a drunk Monroe and a rather tipsy Raven from finding one single reason to start a fight or who knows what these two would do if they end fighting for some reason and knowing Monroe, she would definitely anger Raven due to some bullshit she may say. Meanwhile, Bellamy was drinking his sorrow away as he felt guilty for what happened to Lincoln.

Finn sit next to Clarke, gently hugging her, before he bobbed his head and looked at me, who was the soberest person in the group right now.

"What's the plan?"

"We don't have one that would get us inside the bunker. I know I could take us as close to the bunker, but there's no way we will get through that door or the reapers if we take …"

As soon as he heard my words, Finn recalls something from before the assault. "The tunnels! They are spread all over the mountain, maybe we can use them to reach some less defended door that we may be able to forcibly open."

"We still require some help from the inside."

Suddenly, Clarke, who seemed to fall asleep in Finn's arms, opened her eyes as if she just remembered something urgent.

"Ah! I forgot about this matter! Raven, we need to bypass the jamming otherwise, Monty and Miller won't be able to contact us at all."

Not even a second after she heard Clarke's words, Raven got on her feet and jogged as fast as her limb leg could take her inside her workshop. Not long afterward, we heard her voice from inside the workshop.

"Guys! The jammer is stronger than I thought!"

Just as Raven said that something clicked in Clarke's head making to exclaim in shock. "Mount Weather crashed the exodus ship. They used their jamming device to destroy the ship's computers…and they are utilizing it to block our communications. Raven, can you get around the signal somehow?"

"Bypass it? No. But if I can get to the tower that broadcasts it, I can make it go boom."

"No one is going anywhere, thanks to your stunt!" All of us looked up only to see Clarke's mother and Major Byrne walking into our room, and unfortunately for us, both of them seemed to be pretty pissed off, I wonder why?

"Mom, listen to me…"

"What do I have to do to make you understand that you and your friends are not soldiers, and if you continue to act like this, you will risk all of our lives? Think about it, Clarke, because I let your friends escape, we ended up into a war with the grounders, one that Marcus may have found a way to end if not for what Collins had done!"

"You don't understand mom! We have discovered something. Mount Weather is jamming our communications."

"It's true. There could be other Ark stations on the ground, tens, or even hundreds of people in need of our help. Please, Abby, listen to us, one last time, after this I promise you that neither they nor I will cause you any trouble."Raven added, seemingly pleading as she tried to convince Abby and Byrne to let us find a way to communicate with our friends inside the bunker.

Abby watched for a minute before she let out a sigh. No matter how much she tried to persuade her daughter, Clarke was inevitably going to find a way into the most dangerous situation, right behind me and the rest of our friends.

After what seemed to be an eternity, Abby looked at us, but I know what she was going to order and I'll be damned if I would be left behind once again.

"I will allow you to destroy the broadcasting tower, but I require Leon and Finn to remain behind for another mission that Major Byrne needs some help with."

If my guts were right, then this won't be a simple mission, instead, Byrne would most likely send us into the most dangerous place around us, the grounder-infested forest.
