COWARDICE

Ivan laid down on my chest till he fell asleep. Our conversation had stirred something deep inside of me, something I thought I had gotten rid off but apparently not! I stared down at Ivan's sleeping form while the sun set outside. My fingers stroked Ivan's face which had a look of contentment. I can't believe I was almost ready to reject him, my mate!

I tried to convince myself that I was doing it for our own good, but the truth was I was scared, terrified is more like it! If Ivan hadn't stopped me, I don't know what I would do. I don't even want to think about it. Right here, with Ivan sleeping peacefully in my arms was enough for me. I was contented with the way we were, even thought there might be a possibility that it was going to be...short-lived.

Ivan's dark long lashes fluttered open causing a smile to form on my lips and it widened when his arms around me tighten as if it might disappear.
