[Bonus chapter]

Well hello there, Raychbunni here.

I wanted to share some lore about the universe in which the story is set. I have plans for more stories set within this universe so if you like my style and this story this is handy knowledge.

So first up, what's an immortal? Well, they're just your average soul that receives a 'spark' within their lifetime. That spark gives birth to a System on their entrance into the void at death. A System is, as the FL said, like the soul and the void went and had a baby, it is forever linked with the soul and is also forever linked to the void, like a bridge. Enabling the Soul to retain memories from the life they received a spark and future lives they live out.

In the void, which is literally nothingness, all that exists here is consciousness and whatever that consciousness then creates around them. The souls here cannot access their senses because they're just a bunch of electrical impulses/consciousness without a body and can only recreate what they've experienced/have memories of. This is not a place souls should remain for long, they should return to a dimension forgetting everything about the void and any previous lives.

Another way to view the void and life is positive and negative energy or as the Chinese like to call Yang and Yin. A normal soul finds balance by transferring from one to the other exchanging energy. A soul that lingers in their world (ghosts) slowly has its energy drained from them until the world they're in completely consumes them until they're just a remnant of their former selves.

The void's way to counteract this is by souls like our FL, having the Systems take 'its souls' to the worlds and drag away reluctant souls (not all Systems/Souls do it the same way) into it.

I also want to talk about our FL, Luna.

Until the chapter before she had no memories of her own life and in the first Arc in particular she is just like many amnesiac patients. Though her subconscious clings to the emotions she felt in her last life, she has no understanding of them. She had little understanding of anything, especially how she should and shouldn't behave. Very much like a child.

As the story progresses and she gains her body's memories it helps her make sense of things and mature. Yet she still has a rather cold, logical approach to completing her task, by any means, so long it doesn't betray the original body's wishes.

She doesn't want to be there, she wants to be in the void and escape everyone, but only something just won't let her.

Her soul has lived many, many lives and encountered many other souls both before and after she received the spark to become immortal. For instance the soul inside Holly's body, who you will find out about eventually. These bonds that form over time of repeated relations and energy exchanges with other souls depend on the 'emotions' between the souls. So for instance, she and Lex spent over six hundred years alive together in a romantic relationship. However, with Holly, she loved her platonically (no romance, like how you love a friend or a family member).

I also want to point out that there is just one main male lead, but I won't make it obvious which one of the three souls she constantly gets entangled with it is (where's the fun in that).

As she starts to gain her memories and her sense of self she'll be less like a boat being dragged along by the tide and will eventually take the steering wheel for herself. Please bear with her as she progresses bit by bit. You'll see a slight personality change in her from chapters onwards, due to her regaining the memory of her life she met her and Lex's Master in the Japanese-based cultivation world that she spent ninety-eight years in. Big change from the two young/adolescent memories she currently has to rely on.

Unfortunately, this story is not full of fluff (but will still have some), and her relationships, actions, and behaviour will not all be healthy. I hope by the time we reach the end of this novel you'll be able to clearly see her changes into becoming the best version of herself. That's the whole point I had in my heart whilst writing this, to begin with, a story where a person overcomes their trauma and no longer lets it define who they are as a person.

So I will leave you on that note. However, if any more of you in the future want some more lore or character info comment away or request a bonus chapter again! I'm in love with this world I've created in my head and the characters inside it. I also have tonnes of google documents on my google drive containing information I've written about this story and the others I've got lined up that co-exist in this world.

P.S. I also hope over time it's not just character development you notice, but my own personal development as a writer. This is the first time I've taken one of my ideas seriously and allowed it to consume me to the point I felt desperate to share it. In the background, I'm taking/doing courses on English literature and story making alongside my psychology studies that I'm trying to implement in my work.
