Lack Of Care

"Where did all that come from?" Kylie said in confusion as she walked toward Jonathan avoiding the dead body of John below her. While she was walking over the number of participants lowered once more from a 58 to a 57 proving that John was actually dead.

"They hurt my friends and had no intention of stopping. The only reason they even tried bargaining with me was that I made it through the force field and killed Clyde. If none of that would have happened then they would have killed you guys right in front of me unless I became their slave." Jonathan explained his thought process as he walked over to Angela scooping her up in his arms.

Luckily from the outside Angela's injuries didn't seem to be long-term. Jonathan could only hope and pray that it was the case and that after resting for a while she would be alright.

When Kylie heard what Jonathan said and saw how he cared for Angela the second that the fight was over she couldn't help but have a big smile on her face as she knew she made the right decision not to question his actions.

She had been close to giving up on him and taking matters into her own hands but time after time she gets proven that he's more than meets the eye and overall a good person to be with.

If her confidence in him was a brick wall before now it was like an impenetrable fortress that would never falter no matter what may attack its walls. That was the kind of effect Jonathan had not only on her but many others that considered him to be a close ally or trustworthy acquaintance.

"So what happened in there?" Jonathan said speaking up and interrupting Kylie's thoughts but when she registered what he said she began to frown heavily as she thought about what had happened not even an hour ago.

Kylie then took the time to explain what had happened when they entered the cabin. According to her the second they entered the cabin John and his goons made their anger apparent and began threatening Derek since they said he ruined their plans.

However, they said that to pay for this they had to let all 3 of them use Kylie however they pleased. When Jonathan heard this part of the story he walked over to the body of John and stomped on his skull a few more times turning it into a pile of bloody mush.

Once Jonathan had let some of his anger out he then turned back toward Kylie who was waiting for him to finish so she could continue explaining. Kylie checked and made sure Jonathan wasn't going to stomp on any more bodies before continuing.

Kylie then explained that at that point they thought that the cabin wasn't worth it so they tried to leave and were attacked by the 3 resulting in the injuries that they currently had. Apparently, they wouldn't have been able to make it out if not for Derek who used his body to block their path.

When Jonathan heard that Derek had to use his body as a blocking mechanism to keep the guys away he had a big frown on his face. Knowing that Derek was still in there Jonathan quickly walked toward the door of the cabin.

Kylie tried to stop him knowing the gruesome image ahead but Jonathan shrugged her off and continued undeterred. Once Jonathan arrived at the door he already saw bloodstains all over the place from multiple people but even though he saw the scene he opened the door and entered inside ready to see anything that befell his friend.

Once Jonathan opened the door and peered inside he almost threw up on the spot. He had seen many things during his time in the games but nothing quite matched up to this. Whether it was the obvious human effort to kill Derek or the fact that Jonathan was close to Derek personally there were many emotions rushing through Jonathan as he saw the scene.

Once Jonathan held back his vomit he quickly closed the door and walked back outside with Angela still in hand. When Kylie saw his expression her frown also deepened, "I tried to warn you not to go in there." She said reminding him of her earlier statement as he walked past her.

"I know you did and you were right but I wanted to at least see him." Jonathan said with a sad expression. They may have not known each other for a while but Jonathan considered Derek to be a close friend in these crazy games. To see him die brought Jonathan back to reality as he realized that people he considered friends and allies could die at any moment.

This game wasn't some walk in the park that would forgive anything. Even the smallest mistakes would lead to bloodshed and he needed to pay more attention.

With this new information in his mind Jonathan began walking toward the sleeping bags with Angela still passed out in his arms. He had checked her breathing to make sure everything was alright and it seemed to be the case.

When Kylie saw Jonathan walking away from the cabin and now toward the sleeping bags she questioned him, "What are you doing?" Kylie asked confused.

Jonathan turned toward Kylie with Angela still in his arms, "We should sleep before the next game begins, otherwise we will be at a disadvantage." Jonathan said before turning toward the sleeping bags once more and making his way over.

Everyone that was in the sleeping bags watched Jonathan in silence. They were feeling many different emotions since some thought that he did the right thing making them proud of him but also sad at the fact Derek died while some were more than a little frightened after seeing what Jonathan was capable of.

As for the man in question, he could care less what their thoughts were at the moment and only wanted to rest for the time being. All the problems and other people would still be there when he woke up.
