Tyler's POV

Everything happened so fast, and my cousin released my daughter right away after I told him he could take me as a replacement for my daughter. I went closer to him while he aimed the gun at me. Anika cried the whole time as she ran towards my sister since Emily asked her to be a good girl and go toward her aunt.

I didn't expect he would pull the trigger, and I fell to the ground after Joshua shot me in the chest; the last thing I heard was Emily's deafening voice screaming my name, and I woke up in the hospital bed feeling disoriented.

I almost died, but I got the surgery just on time, and the doctors said I got so lucky the bullet didn't damage my heart. But my soul died when Bianca told me Emily died that day after she took another bullet when Joshua tried to reshoot me. She died on the spot while Joshua surrendered to the authority, who arrived at the crime scene right after Emily's body hit the ground.
