Neveah's eyes snapped open and she sat up sharply on her bed, eyes wide and horrified.
A chilling cold feeling of terror ran down her spine, and within her chest, her heart raced rapidly, the rhythmical beats quickened and uneasy.
Her instincts were sharp and alert, her wolf spirit within her equally on edge. So alert, Neveah's hearing was heightened to the point of picking up the sound of the blood flowing through her own veins and the path they coursed.
So vivid, Neveah could practically envision it. But with her senses at such a sensitive height, all the sounds surged around her, mixing up in a disorienting mesh.
Neveah's senses were sensitive, but never this sensitive. She could usually still dampen them to some extent and Neveah willed a mental block, sealing off all external sounds to calm her mind.
'Calm...calm... precious.' Neveah coaxed her wolf side, knowing most of these feelings were shared to her from her other half.
