Watch your manners

I was picked up by General Louis. Gwen showed no interest in going with me.

"I have no intention of stepping into that den of snakes. You will understand once you go. Be warned though. You have a short temper. One of the snakes might step on a nerve." (Gwen)

She told me before General came. So I can expect schemes and conspiracies from this council.

Then we arrive at a big golden door. I have been in the throne room before but this seems different. Maybe it's a room designated for meetings and such.

General pushed open the door and I followed him. I saw the king sitting in the middle of a round table.

So it's a round table conference. He wasn't surprised so I guess he was expecting me. I notice a few gazes on me. Most of them are unfamiliar except one other person.

"Welcome, Clive. It's good to have you with us." (King)

"Yes. I thought I should inform you of my plans for the future so it won't cause any problems for you."

"You didn't have to. But take a seat." (King)

I see that there's an empty chair at the table. I took my seat. Beside me is General Louis and on the other side is a very stern looking man. He is staring a hole through me.

"I am sorry that I interrupted your meeting. I was just here to tell Trevor and Gwen that I will be going away for some time. General suggested that I inform you as well."

"Louis did tell me that. I heard that you were visiting Galdur with your family." (King)

"Yes. I was at Galdur until yesterday. I went through a weird phenomenon so it's a bit complicated and you wouldn't find it too interesting. But I will be going away due to that."

No one said a word. I see the queen making a dark face.

"It has been a while, Queen Dorothy."

"Yes..it has. Last time we met, you were not looking well." (Dorothy)

"Yes. I was ill at that time. But that's over now. I hope you are doing well."

The atmosphere is thorny.

"I heard that you visited Duchess Aves?" (Dorothy)

"I did visit her. I had an obligation to inform her of her son's untimely demise at my hands. She handled the news pretty well."

Duchess Aves is indeed a wonderful and humorous person. I would love to chat with her again.

"I see. Now that the Duke of Aves has been pronounced dead, they need to prepare a new heir." (King)

"I did ask her if she wants Martin back. But she declined saying he should stay dead."

The eyes around me became sharp. I guess from a normal human's standpoint, it's ludicrous.

"How is Fay and Fiona?" (Dorothy)

"I did ask Fiona to come with us but she said that she would rather stay at home. If she was worried about her job, she could do it even from Galdur. But she wasn't just feeling like traveling.

Fay is fine. A little too fine. When we visited the academy, she seemed nostalgic. I guess she misses her academy days. She told me that she didn't get to graduate properly."

Let's try emotional manipulation. How do they feel about her?

The king looked away. I guess he feels pretty guilty. But suddenly a glass was coming my way. I should just move my head to avoid it.

The glass flew past my left eye and hit the wall behind me. That glass was made of silver. It was fairly heavy. If it normally hits you, you can even go blind.

"You fraud! How long are you going to mock all of us?"

Loud, angry words came at me. I look at the person questioning me. He seems to be a bit older than me. His face resembles Queen Dorothy's. So he must be a prince.

The firstborn is a princess and the crown prince is dead. I guess he must be the current crown prince or at least the first in line to the throne.

"Prince Walter, what did you do?" (King)

He shouted at his son. He seems terrified.

"Your majesty, why are you entertaining a fraud? He seems nothing more than a con man. I even question his sanity. Is he sane or completely delusional?" (Walter)

A lot of heads nod. I guess they are his yes men.

No one is saying another word. I guess I can't just let him get the upper hand.

I use mana to pick the glass up and throw it back at him. He failed to notice it and his forehead was cut by the impact.

He fell to his chair while holding his wound. He is bleeding but everyone is wondering where did the glass come from.

"Are you done yet?"

Maybe my mood had turned sour. My voice sounded really harsh.

"This is why I try not to interact with humans. My temper has always been pretty short. I can't have you speaking those things about me. It insults me and my family."

"It was you? How can you do it? You don't even have any mana?" (Walter)

So he is also the one who judges people from first impression.

Mana will suffice. I pick his entire body up. It's akin to telekinesis but I am just controlling the air around him.

"Listen Walter, I am a harbinger. I rule over death, chaos and destruction. If I want, I can turn this entire planet into a ball of death."

I won't actually do it since the planet spirit communicates regularly with Amaryllis. But I need to threaten him.

"And if you want to gain the power of a harbinger for yourself, just survive in this place."

I open a portal to the Primordial Ruined World and throw him in.

"Where did you send him?" (King)

He asks me with a shaking voice.

"Just a place that's used as a training ground for raising harbingers. That place is bad. A primordial ruined world will rip a human apart. It's time to bring him back."

I open the portal again and bring him back. He seems to be convulsing heavily and is quite injured. The bite marks are small and akin to a rabbit's.

"I will heal him back to his original state. I hope he can tell you what he experienced back there."

After healing him, he didn't open his eyes. He has passed out so I just let him stay in his chair.

"With that, my job is over. I will be gone for a while but my family will be here. I hope you won't do anything to them."

I know they don't have the guts to something to my family but I need to nip everything in the bud. Can't take a risk. Then, I will off to the guild to inform guild master about my absence.
