Chapter 45: GABRIEL

I gripped the steering wheel hard between my hands while staring at the road ahead. What the hell had set her off now? All-day long, her scent has been teasing my senses. Though it was much milder than the night before, now that I had her scent, it was hard to miss. But now, out of nowhere, it had grown hotter, heavier, and was wrapping itself around me like a blanket.

Being trapped inside the car wasn’t helping matters, and I couldn’t even open the window because I wasn’t about to take chances with her safety. We’d left under cover of night, and I’d made sure no one was following us, but it never hurt to be careful. I’ve been having second and third thoughts about bringing her with me because I didn’t know what I was walking into.
