Thankful

The waiter came up to take our empty plates away. As I pondered her comment, Gretal ordered us a slice of pie to end the meal. The rest of the meal was eaten in silence. Within the hour we were at the Morris Arboretum where we spent a pleasant afternoon strolling along and examining the various exhibits and plants.

After the emotional filled days, that was a needed time for me. I was able to reflect while learning about the numerous varieties of roses and orchids. I decided that orchids are my favorite flower now. They are just gorgeous and for some reason seem to call to me.

While enjoying the flowers, Gretal’s words kept coming back to me. I had a lot of fear within me. I knew that. It would be foolish to think otherwise. Fear had consumed me. That, I had realized, was one reason I was on this expedition. I had to face my fears and those that increased my fears.
