Chapter 11

Sierra's POV

While I am spending time with my Sampson making my peace with the changes that are coming. Jin is cleaning up and preparing to make dinner. I let Sampson out to enjoy the huge yard. "Sierra, will you help me with dinner. Just cut up some veggies, I know you can you can use a knife."

I roll my eyes and take the knife from him as he laughs at his own comment. I begin with the onions. I may not be able to cook but I am great with a knife. "Go ahead and ask whatever you want to know, I know you have a lot of questions." Again he didn't look up from what he was doing. To be fair he is deboning a chicken.

"Are you and your brothers' mafia?" Might as well get this question out of the way. "Yes, we are."

"What do you do?" I might as well know what I am getting into. "Drugs, girls or what?" That got his attention and he stopped what he was doing.

"We do not run girls or people. We aren't saints we do things that are not always legal. We do however have limits." I can respect that. There is just something wrong with a person that will smuggle people or force prostitution. "Tell me how you guys work then."

"As you know I am one of seven. We each specialize in something different. Suga is kind of the acting leader. He is just a bit more all around." He sprinkled some stuff on the chicken and kept talking. "Jimin is the best at interrogation. If you need someone to spill their guts he is the one. Tae and Kookie are the best at hand-to-hand combat. Hoseok is a wiz with guns and explosives. Namjoon as you know is our tech guy."

He went back to frying the chicken for dinner. "You if they need someone to cut something they call you?" We share a laugh and he says, "Something like that, but it's more like cut someone." We enjoyed each other's company for a few before I asked for clarification. "So what do you do? Run guns? Drugs?"

He smiled as he continued his work on some sidedish. "Please forgive me if I am not willing to confess all my wrongs, to a person that I don't truly know yet." So much for answering all my questions.

"Joon may know most of your story, but he won't share it with the rest of us. He says it's your story to tell. Well, I am interested in getting to know you better. And more than a little curious as to why you are so far from home." I guess there is no harm in sharing a little more about myself.

"My father is the leader of a small local gang, but he has big dreams. I'm sure he loves me, but I know he values power, money, and control more. In an attempt to build his empire. He arranged a marriage for me to a man that had more power than money." Washing my knife as I speak gives me something else to do while I talk aside from looking at him.

"The man was much older and mean as fuck. I talked to my father and he agreed. I was excited thinking that I would be able to marry who I wanted. Until he told me I was marrying his son. Not because he thought he would be better to me but because he knew he would live long enough to honor the deal." Realizing I could be traded for a deal made me question my life. Not to mention hurt me in ways that I didn't know I could hurt.

"It didn't matter to my dad that I thought the son was just as bad as the father. Honestly, I would have rather married the old cause he would die sooner." I shivered thinking about the rumors I heard about them. They are evil people. If even a small fraction of the rumors are true there is a special place in hell for them.

"When my father introduced me to the son Bobby, I knew I couldn't marry him. The first thing he said to me was it would be in my best interest to give him some boys. As long as I was needed by my boys I would be safe. If I only gave him girls we would all be his family business. His family is heavily into the sex trade." He began to rub my back as I continued.

"I left that night. I bought a flight with as many layovers and plane changes as I could afford with cash. When I was about three stops in I used the airport wi-fi to send the FBI a file I had put together. I have hated that family since I first heard about them. The file contained information on their family. I also included some photos I found on their internet accounts. I also added anything I could find on their business, that I thought they might find interesting." I liked that he was comforting me and not blaming me.

I left out that I sent letters to a few prisoners letting them know who was living with them. I am not sorry. I think they deserve to know that these men were taking advantage of someone's sister, mother, daughter, cousins, and wife. Most prisoners value family above everything. They miss their families and knowing someone is abusing them and getting them addicted to drugs to take advantage of them.

"What happened to them?" I shrugged my shoulders. "I know they were arrested. I also know that either Bobby or his brother was assaulted. Other than that I didn't look into them anymore." He nodded and he handed me some plates to set the table.

"I understand why you ran but why to South Korea? Why not just tell your father what happen and see if he would help you?" We sat down and he began to put some food on his plate and so did I.

"I tried that and instead of the father, I got the son. I was not willing to give him the chance to say no or pass me off to someone else. Someone worse. I chose here because I could. There is no way they would look for me here. When I left I couldn't say more than a few words I learned from K dramas." Taking a bite of the chicken I find my happy place. It is crunchy, juicy, and flavorful. "I don't need my father to make my life miserable. I can do that very well on my own."

"Namjoon gave me a little information on the hit." I look up from my chicken but say nothing. I am honestly over this conversation. "Looks like your father just wants you home. I can get you home to your father safely if that is what you want. I have seen the message and it genuinely appears that he is concerned for your well-being."

Picking up my napkin I wipe my mouth and use the time to get my answer together. He looks concerned, good. I want him to remember what I say. "I will never willingly go back to my father's house. I refuse to be a pawn for him to use to become who he wants to be." I am so frustrated. I just want to live my life.
